How to bypass Windows 11 Internet connection and microsoft account login during setup
If you are setting up a new installation of Windows 11 and are unable to connect to the Internet, The WIndows OOBE or out of box experience will not allow you to continue.
This is pretty easy to bypass and will also allow you to create an offline account, bypassing the need to create or use an online Microsoft user account.
When you are stuck at the Internet connection screen do the following.
Press Shift and F10 to bring up the Administrator command prompt.
type the following command and press enter.
oobe\BypassNRO
Windows will reboot and you can go through the OOBE section and on the internet connection screen you can choose "i don't have an internet connection" and proceed to create an offline account.
When finished you can install the WiFi or Ethernet adapter drivers from a USB stick or CDrom
IF THIS FAILS
Use the username no@thanks.com
Use the password nothanks
This with glitch the login as it has been used too many times and allow you to continue setup.

This is why we have Linux! Linux Mint 23.1 is awesome! I recommend getting acclimated with recent Linux distros and desktop environments. I’m done with Windows to be honest. Don’t need it thanks to the Linux community!

This may also apply How do I bypass network screen if Shift-F10 is disabled? Press 'fn+shift+f10' Press 'option+tab' (The Option key is labelled Alt on keyboards in some countries) Then you will see a UAC window, move to that window by pressing 'option+tab' and then press 'yes' button.

QUESTION: After I do this, I want to reverse this "bypass" action and re-turn on the "connect to internet" screen. How do I reverse this action? The reason is because we do actually want to connect to the internet with our Windows account. We're only doing this "bypass" action because we want to verify if our new laptop has been already activated by someone unknowingly. We don't know if this "bypass" action is permanent or not. Thankyou, this one worked for me.. for Win 11 Pro 23H2 setup, clean install.. laptop, after trying other instructions involving envoking the Taskmgr to end the network flow task, didn't work for me, the setup window changed but shows an error stating go back and try again, so tried your instructions. perfect. done!

worst parts of 11 the need to login or have a microsoft account and the TPM and secure boot stuff is a pain, and mostly the fact that a lot of processors are excluded because of this

Hi all, this is partially working after Aug 29, 2023 update. New way is Ctrl+Shift+Esc, goto C>Win>Sys>cmd.exe; run as admin,; S mode error pops up; connect to wifi, login with MS account for S mode; and CMD will start working (disconnet WIFI); after that follow the steps from top (the vid). DONE DONE & DONE ;)

Thank you very much for this video. As of FEB-2024 with the latest Win 11 OS 23H2 you cannot bypass the internet requirement by ending the task "Network Flow Management" through Task Manager. As you try to advance the internet connection screen reappears. This video shows the potentially only method to boot up with "I don't have internet" and bypass the internet requirement.

Thanks Mike. Need that for non-supported hardware install of Windows 11. My CPU and Motherboard might be 3rd gen, but it still works fine. Runs Windows 10...no problem. So sad that Micro$haft makes it hard to install their crappy OS. Take care. Cheers

I did read elsewhere whilst it works now, Microsoft may restrict access to windows patches for systems that don't meet their arbitrary requirements.

@@rickh8380 unfortunately ms got away without hardware driver support years ago when going to w10. Because of they way they redesigned signed drivers there were literally thousands of unsupported printers , scanners and such external hardware.

Haven't heard of this method before. I just used the task manager and ended the "network connection flow" as Craftcomputing explained. But that solution doesn't seem to work anymore. I just get an error like; "oops we lost your internet connection" something like that. And after that I can no longer bring the command prompt to the front without force restarting my pc. Thanks for helping me and many other people out.

Hi, Mike. I got stuck like this. Fortunately got the right tip at the right moment. What an abhorrent flop by MS. Maybe MS wants to bully those who buy pcs without OS? In my case, I had to install W11 because Linux was a no go in the case of the laptop in question. Fine machine, but rigged to work with W11. MSI, I'm talking to you.

The only problem with bypassing the MS Account is if the user with MS Applications activates that "Bit Locker Encryption" at a later interaction. Better keep a status check on your Primary OS Boot drive. If you initiate a MS Service Update, Hardware Upgrade ect you might have your voit drive encrypted and LOCKED. Be aware and have a back up code to ENTER if prompted or you will be locked out of your system and unrecoverable encrypted data.

If you are installing Windows 11 in a MSI machine like mine MSI PRESTIGE 16 STUDIO and administrator console doesn’t recognize the code, when typing oobe put it in CAPS instead LIKEA OOBE and it will work!

I'm clueless with all of this. I just bought and unboxed my pc and got to this point. It shows a few wifi options,including my own I've had. Asks for a network key. Again,not sure. Will doing what you did in the video hinder my ability to get this pc up and going normally for internet ,games etc?

this is more to avoid using a microsoft account, after the setup phase you can connect to your wifi or ethernet normally

It worked for me.. but still I can’t my laptop with any wifi.. neither home wifi nor phone hotspot.. please reply what i can.. watched couple videos nothing worked for me

Yeah, those were the days. I just took a quick look at your video list and I think I'll be spending a lot of time on your channel. I haven't really done anything on computers for about 12 years and just got a new laptop for my new job and it's almost like starting all over again. I really appreciate all the help you have here that I will need. Lke finding the registration key which I couldn't believe wasn't physically included anywhere! I absolutely subbed. Same problem here. It's weird because the keyboard obviously works because shift+F10 worked, but it wont let me type in the command window. It's as if Microsoft have disabled it??

i would do a repair install of windows over the top of your existing one, that usually fixes most things, we did a video on it called windows repair install
