I have one hive with one brood chamber, excluder and 2 deep supers on top, I have 2 new queens arriving next month and wish to split the hive into 2 new nucs with the new queen's. My location is Australia do you have a vidio to cover this procedure.

Hi Les, Thanks for commenting. I guess you're just into your new season which must be very exciting, as our season draws to a close yours is just starting :) Great that you have some time to prepare for your new queens arriving. I would carry out a split similar to the method I use in my 2 nucs from one hive video(ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E-W3XCv4OaA.html). Also, I would try to increase the amount of brood your queen is producing to give you more brood frames for the split as and when you do it. Are you able to remove the deep supers and replace with another brood box? A great method of increasing the number of brood frames would be to perform a Bailey Comb Change, check out my video showing how this works ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j2d8Rt5Ny5c.html). If I can help any further drop me a message via my website or on our Patreon page. Stewart

I don't think I'd care for those style queen cages at all.

Hi Brent, thanks for commenting. What style cages do you use? I've never had a problem with these travel cages but always looking for other options. I'd liek to hear what type you use and why you favour them. It would be good to then be able to try them out and show people how they work and the pros & cons of them compared to the oones I normally use. Thanks. Stewart

Hey Stewart, thanks for the good video series, really enjoy it! I use the JZ BZ cages sold here in the US. I've used the three hole wooden cages (sold on the same linked site) for years and they are still a good option too. I don't like the idea of a sliding gate that is cage width on the one's you use in this vid but it's just personal preference. The JZ BZ cages I like don't have a lot of room but seem to have enough, they have become pretty much the standard here. www.kelleybees.com/jzbz-queen-cages.html
