Thanks for the explanation. Should you not include the resistance of the CT (Rct) when calculating resistance of circuit to determine CT burden.

I have a question the ratio that are normally given on single line diagram for a current transformer, is that information normally given or do I as an electrician need to be able to derive that information for myself??

For education purpose, the explanation is good. However at all times, the efficiency of motors should always be considered, when calculating the full load Current, The working efficiency of the Motor has to be considered for correctness. 150HP is shaft power output and not Power drawn on full load.

How to calculate for mcc of 400a sfu(installed). But load is 200a to 250a.load distributed from mcc at different location.

Hi kindly clarify my doubt as below You have taken 1 A secondary, incase if it is 5 A Secondary. CT; would the burden be 1.0741 x 5^2 = 26.85 VA and accordingly should we select the CT(5 A secondary CT) with 30VA burden for the same application. i would be pleased to see your reply.

I think resistance is wrong value sir

the resistance should be 7.41 ohm/kM, so the final calculation should be (2*50*7.41/1000+2*0.5)*1^2=1.741VA
