After conducting the one sample Wilcoxon-test in SPSS with the result of a difference between sample median and population median (or hypothesized median), an effect size is needed to quantify/classify the magnitude of this effect. For the one sample Wilcoxon-test, *r* is suitable.

SPSS does unfortunately not provide that effect size calculation. So, you have to do the calculation by hand. r is a simple division of the standardized test statistics and the sqaure root of the number of observations. Thanksfully, SPSS provides both in its output when doing a one sample Wilcoxon signed-rank test.
Be aware that the classification of the effect size r is reasearch field specific. For the social and behavioral sciences, the paper Cohen, J. (1992), A Power Primer, p. 157 is usually cited:

Hi Bjorn, what is the appropriate test for sample size calculation for multiple proportion comparison in R? Thanks

Hey there, are you looking for a contingency table approach? If so, a goodness of fit test is suitable: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tM5v-GMs0Qs.html Best Regards, Björn.
