May I make a suggestion?? When you print out the problem to be solved at the top of the screen, could you use a larger typeface?? I watch these vids on a cell phone and sometimes the small print is hard to read. Thanks, and really enjoy your vids and problem solving simple explanations.

its the proportion. if you are unsure of the proportion, it is suggested to use 50% or 0.5 to maximize the study you are conducting.

im still so confused. I used .5 for my proportion and it didnt work. Why is .5 proportion the max here???? please explain more thoroughly, I really dont understand.

Maybe it has 50-50 chances of being a failure or the exact opposite. Maybe, the main reason is to minimise the error, both the type I think

usually when we round numbers, given that the number after the decimal point is 5 or higher, then we round the number up. Otherwise, we would round the number down. So, I am confused why you round up the number. Does the assumption of having maximum numbers for n negate this rule?

For sample size you ALWAYS round UP! If he rounded down to 30, you wouldn't meet the needed sample size. So going up gives you the needed value! 153.26 would be 154. Remember: round up for sample size

Totally late to respond and answer your question since its been at least a year, but he rounded up because you can't have 384.16 students. It has to be 385.

p*(1-p) is the formula for the variance of the bernoulli distribution. but idk why he used this here 😢

In the first example you use an absolute error, while in the second example a relative error, in the same formula. This seems contradictory. An error of 5.3 on 84 is 6%
