Most important things to do when calibrating pipe clamps in ice water is STIR!
Doing these things will also give you more accurate results:
-use plastic bowl
-use as clean water as possible
-use as clean ice as possible
-do not submerge tip beneath metal parts connected to the thermistor, but you do want the metal parts that make contact with the pipe to be fully submerged in the water
-clean pipe clamp metal surface that makes contact with pipe
-use crushed ice (i think this is also a big one)

I couldnt understand where you went into measure quick to do it...where do you go to calibrate it?

Open measure quick, then tap the green plus icon at the bottom left right, then go to probe manager under the field piece products banner or whichever brand of pipe clamp you are trying to calibrate, then there will be an offset with a plus or minus next to it that you can tap to increase or decrease the offset by 0.1 F each time that you tap it.

You never showed how to get to the screen where you can calibrate them

No not in the Fieldpiece app you are right, but if you use measure quick this is how to calibrate them. Measure quick is much better than the Fieldpiece app, I only use the Fieldpiece app when there is a new firmware update for the probes.

Do you have to do this in Measure quick? Can you not do it in the fieldpiece app?

Yes you can calibrate it in the Fieldpiece app, but if you are using Measure quick you will need to do it in Measure quick.

I watched the temperature change on the job link app. It took about 25 minutes for the temperature on both sides to reach 32f. The numbers on both sides will flash together for a second but I don’t know if it’s successful.

@@mojoc232 so it will automatically zero on 32° if you get them both close to 32°? i’m just used to zeroing the old style thermocouple stuff where you manually set it to 32°

Why don’t you clamp onto a piece of ice ?
@BleedingEdgeHVACR

Actually I read into doing that, but it’s not an accurate reference point to 32 F.

I came to ask the same question. Its still unclear to me how using the clamp as intended it would be less accurate. After all clamping onto a piece of ice is virtually the same as clamping onto a lineset. If it cant accurately measure when clamped to a piece of ice how can I trust the measurement when clamped to lineset? Not trying to be a smart ass I am genuinely curious as I am very interested in purchasing a complete job link kit. I would think that a secondary thermometer to measure actual water temp should also be used just to be sure
