How to Capture License Plates at Night With a Security Camera: IR Demo of Uniview's LPR 

Uniview's LPR, the HC121@TS8CR-Z, has a whopping 165' IR range, which is perfect for capturing license plates at night. But you might be wondering how difficult it is to get your LPR set up for ideal plate capture for both day and night. That's what we're going to show you in this video!

Spoiler alert: the license plates look great right out of the box. There is little-to-no configuration that you need to do in order for your camera to start capturing license plates at night!
Here are some things to keep in mind about nighttime plate capture with any other LPR:
► The car's taillaights or headlights might blind the camera, preventing clear plate captures. (Not an issue at all with this camera.)
► The shutter speed might need to be adjusted to prevent motion blur. (Not an issue at all with this camera.)
► The IR settings might need to be adjusted so that it's not too bright or too dim. (Not an issue at all with this camera.)
► The focus may need to be adjusted once the IR filter slides out of the way since this is such a zoomed in image. (Not an issue at all with this camera.)
Are you picking up on a theme here? This camera doesn't have any of the common nighttime issues that you'll see with other LPRs. Literally the only setting we changed for this video was to flip the frame rate from 25fps to 60fps. That's it! And even that's an optional setting change.
