I just did a quick calculation, and this month we've saved $35 on soda water. So it's safe to say this plan was a success!

I'm most impressed by finding a kegerator for ~$400! Plus getting away from using draft beer parts to complete this for $130. Good use of an unused appliance; seems like those kegerators are usually $800-$1,500. My wife and I drink about $60-$80/mo on Polar waters so I ended up skipping draft beer parts and going for beverage industry pieces and a Craigslist mini refrigerator we converted. Cost for the carbonator machine, 10lb tank, seltzer draft tower, reverse osmosis water filter, barrier bev-line, etc. ended up being twice your project + kegerator but sounds like we also drink twice the amount of seltzer as you guys. Cheers to a good video and a different approach!

Muy interesante, nunca había escuchado sobre cómo mineralizar tu propia agua en casa, definitivamente esto es un tema que me interesa, gracias. Saludos Roger Erosa.

Where were you like a year ago when I did this! lol!! I scoured the web looking for ways to cut back on the waste and cost associated with my bf’s seltzer addition. We ended up adding a three tap tower to his old college kegerator! Over the top? Yep, but this so we could practice recipes and skip the 3 days of zero seltzer while it carbonates. Now we always have a plain and two flavors on tap. Favorite flavor has to be Sumo Orange! Or maybe Watermelon. Great post! Thanks

Sometimes we'd have to go to several stores just to find the Sodastream CO2, and it ain't cheap! The seltzer bottle and pre-chilled water bottles took up way too much space in the refrigerator too. I asked my husband why we couldn't use our kegerator to make it. He did this for me and we love it. We started out with a brand new keg but re-used tubing and the water tasted like beer. He replaced all the tubing and now our sparkling mineral well water tastes awesome! We have a double tap - one for beer and one for seltzer. Drinking regular water for a few days during each re-carbonation is worth it! I watched your video to see how you shake it bc my hubs' technique seems rough (rolling it the cold keg on his knees) - might have to try your way! BTW, we set the keg on a stool at the sink and fill it directly from the sink with a pull-out faucet.

You dont need to shake if you replace your cap on the keg with an oxygen stone/nitro cap. Distributeses the co2 into the water directly instead of just sitting it on top.

Switching the input lines of the keg when carbonating the water inside the keg by using the liquid lifting tube for carbonation keeps the gas bubbleing directly to the solution instead of penetrating thru the water surface. Adding the gas flow and pressure bit by bit 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 bar at a time in half an hour intervals will make your water very "Vichy ish" indeed!

Where’s the mini fridge conversion tutorial?

There are many if you do some Googling for mini fridge kegerator conversion. I would look at Instructables. I built this one with some changes- www.instructables.com/Home-carbonation-setup-for-unlimited-seltzer/

This is probably the most useful video on making carbonated water I found so far, so good job. But, I don't believe you on not drinking so much., You look like a West coast kid. You probably get hammered drunk and eat a handful of mushrooms and disco biscuits all the time 🤘

this is not the best way. I'm stil trying to figure out what is, but.. a smaller keg, maybe keep it under the sink and put some auto refill on. Just grab ice from the fridge. put dispinser where that wierd soap thing I dont use on the sink is?

You can put an inline force carb unit under the sink and have an on demand tap at counter level then add flavor as needed. Good luck!

Do you need to add salt or can you just do this with plain water? Never mind...got to where you said that's ok 😉
