How to care for a fig tree (Ficus Carica). In this video I go through all aspects of how to care for a fig tree: location, fertilizing, watering, pruning and harvesting. This Common Fig Tree is giving 2 harvests per year, the first the "BREVAS" ripen end of May or early June and the second or "True Figs" ripen from August onwards. Figs straight off the tree are a delight. You do need to harvest them exactly when they are at the correct point of ripeness that suits you. DO NOT pick them early to ripen in your kitchen as if it was a banana. Figs do not ripen off the tree. You can eat either the inside only or the entire fig skin and all (oh and dogs love them!!!)
