I work at a greenhouse and my boss has a few really beautiful hibiscus plants that he isnt selling because he needs to grow them bigger for cuttings. But they are literally so vibrant that they look photoshopped into real life. The double variety isn't really all that great but the normal variety has very pronounced flowers with a glow to the color.
Have to agree. The doubles are really unimpressive. Either the super vibrant singles, or some of the slightly less showy forms that have filigree flowers for me.
You have a hibiscus tree! We just got one and are in Ottawa (so, hi, neighbour!). We have ours hibiscus tree outside right now since spring finally arrived. Any tips for newbies??
Ok I got one at the big box store for Three dollars about three weeks ago ( its big 10 gallon pot), didn’t have information on it and it look healthy,I have a sunroom and put in there. It bloom this week. ( one bloom ) I want to put it in new pot , but don’t know if I need to wait or go ahead and replant it in bigger pot. I plan on keeping it in my sunroom.
@@timmangan1734 we had frost warning lastnight n freeze warning tonight. Im at the tip of the mitt, northern lower Mi. Warmer weather voming though, looks like next wed starts the true warmup 50s n higher from there on. Until then? Everything is hit n miss here. I also plant the way you do. I have 2 apples, 2 cherries, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, asparagus, and herbs all perennial, edible. Then theres the hydrangeas, roses, trumpet vines, peonies, glads tulips lilies glads daffodils and more. Veg garden next week.
They grow quickly in the spring and summer. Water it once every 3-4 days in the spring and summer. And in the fall or winter, water it once every 5-7 days. Remember that they don't bloom in the winter, just in the spring and summer.Temperature is very important for this plant because it is native to tropical areas. It droops when it is unhappy about something (it could be too thirsty, too hot, too cold). And this plant LOVES the sun 🌞. I hope this helps.
You guys talk too much about shit that doesn't need to be talked about. I didn't really hear many instructions. Change the name of this video. Talking about hibiscus plants on TV
Does anyone know if you can make one last indoors in MN all year by having it near a window? Or will they die off during winter due to not enough sunlight?
We have one in Ontario, Canada and keep it indoors by a south facing window. It has been producing blooms even in the middle of the winter and has started to bloom on a consistent basis starting last month. Hope that helps!
@@dogcouture1373 Thanks for the info! We have a SE-facing townhouse that unfortunately only has windows that one side, so by about Noon, the sun is over the house and there's not much light after that. I'll see if I can keep them alive... :)
Ross Chaos I have the same situation in my house. Just picked up one to try to make my new life in Iowa seem a little more normal (since I’m a Florida man). Anyway, I’m going to try a UV light bulb by it if I don’t get enough sunlight.
The hardy hibiscus will come back in the spring but with a limited lifespan, mine came back 2 or 3 seasons only in Minnesota zone 4b even with mulching/ covering for the winter.
I have an about 10 yr old Hibiscus. I have never cut it. Now it has over 7 branches, growing vertical that are getting TOO Tall and I have tall ceilings. What do do you recommend? Everything I find is about pruning from the beginning. I never did. Now What?!
I have a 5 yr old in the ground that faces southwest. I always have trouble w yellow leaves. I water twice a week. Its often 95-100 degrees. Pls help!!!
@@hannahbartlett. Considering we live in water precious areas, not to mention expensive, I yanked it out and put a few natives that were much more appropriate No more water pigs allowed!! In so Calif it's natives and drought tolerant only!!
