Voile’s video (rebranded Pomoca) recommends NOT using “skin savers” for long term storage because of chemistry issues. They recommend glue-to-glue storage. Maybe that advice is specific to Voile-Pomoca skins, but I have to wonder if increased air exposure from the mesh accelerates glue oxidation and hardening? G3 recommends NOT applying skins to boards in a warm environment. G3 says it worsens skin performance through the day due to water trapping… but we all do it. I have no direct opinion. Thanks for your great tips. This may be the best skin handling video on RU-vid.
I've since gone back on my skin savers for storage advice. Had some skins go to hell over the summer that had them on. I just don't use them at all anymore.
Hey there thanks for this tutorial, very helpful. I’d have a question about the size of these G3 Skins you use, I’ve got a 2022 Jones Solution 161 so I’m kind in the middle of their S/M (ranging from 144 to 162) and the M/L (fitting 154 to 172 boards). Which size should I pick?
I typically go for the smallest size I can fit on a board to save weight and to reduce friction when sliding the ski uphill. That said the bigger skin will have just a bit more surface area which could help if you're worried about your skinning technique or you're new to skinning.
