yeah, you spin out a lot, but once you master it for a lap, then you end up 1st on the server leaderboard. Shift on gears 1-3 before 5k rpm, then at 4th gear, shift at 5k rpm, and stay on 5th gear. If you want an easier car to drive with good stats, get the lotus spirit v8, but don't be surprised when the top speed is much lower. Ferrari is really good too.
The devs should’ve made the plate number of the Carlton “40 RA”. (For those of you who don’t know why, it’s because one of the Carltons sold had that plate number and it was stolen and, as the video states, used for robberies and it was so fast it outran police cars in the UK which led to the car almost being banned).
This car also happens to have the highest top speed (that you can currently buy) in the game too, just so you are aware, and that is for cars you can get at the moment. I highly recommend mastering the car on the c1 loop as you can earn tons of money and if you want to make money fast, this is the way to go.
Never a boat- this thing was quite literally too fast for cops in it’s time and was one of the most stolen cars because it would be used as a getaway car
also 5k rpm, and exceed 5k rpm, and your car will lose a little bit of traction, in most cases, causes you to slam into a wall. Another pro raced me with the same car and said to keep it under 5,000rpm or it will be difficult to corner on sharper corners. This advice helped me get better times. Just yesterday, I had a 3 minute and 39 second lap. This car is seriously good, but sometimes very unforgiving. Its still my favorite car to race with though. Once you master this car, every other car, when driving, will be easy to drive.
Edit: after watching the sim racing bloke's videos on the racing line and getting the hang of my car, I was able to reduce my normal laps to a 3:05:77 on the counter clockwise at old tokyo. After a lot of practice, you should easily beat out 95% of the competition, this car has even beat out some slot cars (the speedy vans) and they just quit the race. One of the more faster cars in the game. In the clockwise loop, my fastest lap has been 03:35:979. Very good car to learn how to drive like a pro. Please try the car!
The stats on this car for top speed are higher than almost every car, but it is hard to reach that kind of speed unless you are going very fast to begin with before going down a steep, downhill, slope which can allow you to reach speeds over 300kmh if you are skilled enough.
Edit: unless you shift into 6th gear, but the Traction Control needs turned off, and you need to have a lot more of a straight to do this. To optimise this shift, shift from 5th to 6th as soon as you hit 167kmh. Any faster, you will lose speed after the shift and start a little bit slower, causing the need to regain lost time. Shifting below this amount means potentential lost tome too. just shift from 5th to 6th at 167kmh. The traction control indicator that it is off is the 3 red letters on your speedometer that will pop up if you hit "T." What ever you do, for the highway routes, avoid drifting. This will stop you from losing 3-5 seconds in your lap times. Also, this car is very good for the Ichikawa Region, on the hill climb of the faster section with the toll at the beginning of this road. Do not use on any other touges than this. Practice recovery, shifting, light braking (less to 1 second or threshold braking in rapid, quick, successions), and racing line practice if you want to get faster times with this car. If you want a beginner car, get an r33. If you want a slightly difficult car, get a carlton. If you want a crowd killer, get a mustang....never mind. Anyways, you may see me is if you notice a blue/purple carlton driving around, that would be me. Good luck with your practicing!
whatever you do, do not use 6th gear. Only use 5th to achieve an easy 269~270kmh unless you are going downhill as your can will slow down way too much. I know this from experience.
Ok so, time for fun facts. The GM released the lotus omega here in Brazil at the start of the 90's, and it was a luxury car, mainly because of his 4.1 litre engine with 6 big cilinders, but also because it was very comfortable. Only rich people could afford it
I have been playing this game recently, and I am starting to wonder if the lotus esprit v8 is faster than the Carlton. Can you please do a video on it or would you know which car is better?
hey If you mind me asking, I just started using the carlton and struggle getting below 3:35 on c1 loop stock, Could you post the tune that you used for this vid? Thank you
Hi, this video is over a year old, and the car was used stock. If I were you, I'd try developing your skill a bit more first and then try some tuning. But a good move for the tuning would be to stiffen the rear suspension stiffness atleast 300-700 more than the front; this lessens the understeer. Thanks for watching
