I particularly liked the eye demonstration. It was so much easier to see on a larger piece. That being said I liked the whole video.

@@markmcnerney6249 it's nearly effortless if your tools are sharp and the wood is good. There's definitely a lot of really bad basswood out there. Have to find a reputable seller.

I have done some spirits with the cartoon eyes and have followed your videos that you incorporated with some of the other Gnomes you have done. Picked up some tips from this one as well. Keep up the great work, it's appreciated.

Doug, love your videos, inspires me to tackle more carvings. Two questions (1) what have you found is the best method for cleaning shavings off carpet? Vacuums seem to get clogged for me and brooms/brushes don’t work that well on carpet the shavings tend to dig into the carpet. Obviously keeping most of the shavings on the table/bench is best, but I have to work on a table over carpet right now and it’s difficult to clean easily. (2) What do you do with all your shavings - you must amass a large amount of shavings - do you burn them, compost them, …?

Felicitaciones nuevamente!
@docinparadise
@docinparadise 2 года назад
It depends on the depth of carving you want to achieve and the amount of time you want to take, but the flexcut tools are excellent and comparatively affordable. Make sure you also buy the sharpening “stone” (leather for gouges/VTools) because sharpening them on a flat strop is nearly if not completely impossible! They come with an extremely sharp edge, but of course all woodcarving tools need constant sharpening. They come in different sizes in each set too. I bought the smaller ones, but the one Doug is using I has bigger profiles. Make sure you check the size because all #9 or #11 are not the same mm.
@rodolfomiguelserra
@rodolfomiguelserra 2 года назад
