That's the part I like most going out into the woods, looking for Hickory or Osage Orange for harvesting staves.

Great video. I'm a wood guy myself. I know what your talking about carving while it's still green. It gets so hard once it dries out. When turning bowls on a lathe green wood is the best. It just cuts so much easier. Good luck out there!

Here in Vermont we use maple saplings. Strip the bark and it is pure white. Kool video. Jimmy

I've been carving. Wood and walking sticks for while now. I usually shape mine while there green. And then wait. A few months and finish it. Then wait some more before I seal it. With poly.
