How to carve a watermelon baby carriage. This is a great for a baby shower!

We have reviewed the original video footage to see how long this took to do: nothing was prepped in advance for this video, and the entire carving from beginning to end took 48 minutes, not including time to prepare the fruit salad. The entire process including cutting up the fruit and filling it took 1 hour and 1 minute.

This showed up in the suggested videos as 'How to carve a watermelon baby'. I have to admit I was dissapointed to find out it was infact a baby carriage and not a baby :-p

I did something like this, and made a baby sticking out between the fruit salad. I used a half of an orange cut length-wise with watermelon pits stuck in as closed eyes at about the middle of the orange, and another pit for the 'button-nose' and then I just carved a smile.

How far in advance do you think this can be done so that it still looks good and the fruit still tastes good? I am thinking I need at least 2 days... Also, how do you make those pretty edges and do you think there is another idea that is faster/easier to make the pretty edges?

Where's the baby? I really like the idea of putting the handle on it, but it should have a baby inside made from a peach or a cantaloupe.

It would look much better if you put a face with a pacifier. Either with an orange or half of a cantaloupe. For the eyes, you can use grapes (cut in half) or blueberries. Then, insert the pacifier. :) --very good cutting techniques!

The baby did not fit in there with that amount of fruit, I would advise to put in a little less fruit if you want the baby to fit in it.

Hmmm good point but there are hairy women, you just wouldn't know they were hairy because they shave a bunch.Also im just not seeing a boy with hands like that lolz. Maybe Its a man with small, dainty, and well manacured hands,or a woman with hairy super arms.and Maybe we'll never know for sure :P

It's cute but it kinda creeps me out because I saw one where part of the pink was left intact and carved to look like a baby's face sucking a binky but this one looks like all that fruit is suffocating the baby...but this one is probably more functional like to eat. Very creative :)

You could, but you risk the juices from the fruit salad collecting at the bottom of the watermelon. I often cut up my fruit and store it for later and usually within a day, the bottom of my container is full of the fruit juice, and unfortunately the fruit loses it's fresh taste a bit.

I went to a baby shower yesterday and helped make on of these but they added a babies head made of fruit inside and instead of oranges we added lemon with blue berries for the end and they didn't add the sharp edges on the watermelon. :3

The music wasn't even that bad. It wasn't harsh on the ears, and it wasn't "fall asleep" worthy. I actually thought the music was perfect for this type of video.

@BlackPlatinum79 This seems to be a common question, so I reviewed the original video footage today to check on the time: Nothing was prepped in advance, and the entire carving from beginning to end took 48 minutes, not including time to prepare the fruit salad. This was carved slower and more relaxed than usual in order to show the camera the watermelon, so time can very easily be saved from this time.
