Great tips. Having just been to Andaman I concur with your comments. The ability to cast properly makes a huge difference. It also improves your accuracy
Another tips I found out is my FG knots sit between my first and second guide for smoother cast less banging on the guide, 2 is having a line length from the tip to your reel. (Especially Casting 80g lure above) Try it out
Ive got the same line on all my rigs, nomad design. Do a lot of surf fishing off the coast of Texas where you really have to get your bait out far, I can tell you the line you use matters and affects how far you can throw a bait.
What size reel is best for 100 to 120gm stick baita il be using around 90 to 100gm poppers as well on same outfit and il be using a 100lb barid so what size reel do u recommend ?? Oh forgot to mention i have a pe 8 rod I'm jus confused weather to buy a 65k or the 85k
I got me a penn mariner 2 boat rod and I love it, use it with my spinfisher VI 9500 for big inshore sharks and it works amazing, just bought it and already got a massive 4ft bonnethead shark
Oh yeah! I do this technique all the time the push pull casting technique. ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING TO FISHERMAN IS TO USE A FIBERGLASS FISHING ROD WHEN DOING THIS TECHNIQUE. WHY? BECAUSE FIBERGLASS IS WOBBLY AND FLEXIBLE AND WILL ALLOW YOU TO SLINGSHOT YOUR BAIT OUT FURTHER. THE FEEL IS DIFFERENT FROM A MEDIUM ACTION GRAPHITE ROD. ANOTHER REASON TO USE A FIBERGLASS FISHING ROD IS BECAUSE IF YOU USE THIS TECHNIQUE LONG ENOUGH (the push pull whip casting technique) YOU WILL EVENTUALLY SNAP THE TIP OF YOUR GRAPHITE FISHING ROD BECAUSE GRAPHITE IS BRITTLE. HOW DO I KNOW THIS? I SNAPPED 3 GRAPHITE RODS BECAUSE I CAST HARD / WHIP THE BAIT OUT FAR… ALL 3 OF THOSE GRAPHITE RODS SNAPPED… AT THE TIP. FIBERGLASS ROD IS THE RIGHT MATERIAL FISHING ROD TO USE FOR THIS “WHIPPING” ACTION / SLINGSHOT CASTING TECHNIQUE (push pull technique). YOU’LL ALSO FEEL YOUR CRANKBAITS WORKING BETTER AND YOU’LL HAVE A HIGHER HOOKUP RATIO WHEN CATCHING FISH BECAUSE THE FIBERGLASS WILL ABSORB THE WEIGHT OF THE FISH ALSO ALLOWING YOU TO SINK THE HOOK IN DEEPER RATHER THAN RIPPING IT OUT WITH A STIFFER GRAPHITE ROD. A ROD ALTERNATIVE TO ALL FIBERGLASS ROD IS THE UGLY STIK MEDIUM ACTION. WHY? BECAUSE UGLY STIK USES GRAPHITE AND FIBERGLASS IN THEIR RODS. AND THE TIP OF THEIR RODS ARE… FIBERGLASS. WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS… 💡
So they problem I'm having is accuracy. Small spinning rods I can cast where I aim. But this big rod and reel combo (penn 10500 on 12' rod) I ALWAYS toss way to the right. Legitimatly like rods at noon and I toss a 3 or a 6. I don't even know how that happens?! It wasn't just once or twice, it was every throw. Talk about embarrassment. Crossed a lot of people lines, multiple times....
If right hand is at the bottom of the rod, you could be pulling too much. Try to cast the same but, a little less down with right hand. Sometimes I do the same thing. Slammer 10500/12' rod
