Great Idea, I love that you was trying different things out with these. I am doing the same thing... I can't wait to share what I've learned. Absolutely Awesome...
I found this to be ridiculous. Can't you just get official adapter from xreal, plug chromecast directly to it and then power to chromecast? Wouldn't thay work without all this cables?
And dont forget the google dongle needs connecting to wifi.. so no matter what situation you are in, you could have just plugged the glasses straight into your phone which has all the apps and power and internet built into it..
So i can't see movies from RU-vid on my air.... Directly from my phone or through the Beam... I get audio but no video. I'm guessing it's some sort anti-piracy safeguard from RU-vid
Great video, but I've just gotten an update that now puts Netflix, Prime Video, and also a 'Files' folder on the XBeam itself. All of the movies on my phone are now transferring to the XBeam via USB C to USB C. This means I can save my phone battery and watch movies from the device when travelling - and use the streaming function (Netflix or whatever) when I have internet signal. Personally I prefer to have the movies on the device as they are now transferring, so I can get on a flight or long train ride without interruption to the streaming signal. I am so glad I bought these now! As soon as the movies transfer I will watch something today! Great channel btw - keep up the good work.
Thanks but this is way too much wires for my taste. Audio doesn't work as well. I just recently picked up an hdmi to usb-c cable with power that audio works! Also the plug doesn't get hot as well vs the ones that came out earlier this year. I picked up an Onn 2003 Google TV box as well. So really I just need to hook up a power bank with two USB-A ports and I should be gravy! Less wires and more straight forward for right now until the Rokid Station comes out or the Beam (which I recently got) gets custom apps. Btw I do have an S22U so I could use DeX as well but I feel like the video is too compressed vs any Android/Google TV where is a lot more clean with no banding. For example I feel like Netflix only plays in 480p or 720p vs 1080p.
Interesting, good find and thanks for sharing. So i did this method with slightly less wires using the beam and audio works fine. But less wires is ultimately the goal.
@@KingKola_ I did more testing since and it looks like I'm not able to get audio from my Ally (PC) unless it's connected directly from it using the same USB-A. I'm thinking it's using the USB-A to grab the audio and send it through USB-C. Strange thing is that I can't use the Beam with it as it doesn't pass that audio through for some reason. Dunno maybe the Beam needs another update or so. At this rate it's ok but I'm looking forward to all the upcoming changes.
@volcalstone if you connect to the wifi there might be an update, mine received an update yesterday. But likewise i'm looking foward to significant updates to make this better.
Unfortunately no, you'd have to use a Bluetooth speaker... Though someone did tell me once in a forum that there's a way to allow audio through in the developer's option of the google device but i didn't feel like dealing with that.
@@KingKola_ I’ll check out your video. I think the improvement in the Air device is enough to make me keep it. I sent my first pair back to Amazon. I didn’t feel the stuck screen was acceptable. Then saw the Beam and said well - maybe that’s the solution. It is.
