I just watched this a second time. The barber hauler rigging with the soft shackle is an amazing... great flexibility and adjustability. I think its fantastic you ran everything back to the helm. Nice work.
NIce set guys. It looks like the sail is backwards. The red tape is on the starboard, (right) side of the boat and red is for port. The green tape is on the port, (left) side of the boat. So I think you accidentally put the sail up with the inside of the sail facing forward, and the outside of the sail facing back at the boat. Thanks for your video
Awesome and helpful video- thanks! For your barber hauler set up how often do you use the adjustability of the line in the blocks (so you can easily adjust barber length) versus if you just had a line you could tie on to the same cleat (how ever long you want it) and the other end is a low friction ring or block the sheet goes through? Thanks again!
Glad you found it helpful! Of course, if you remain on the same wind there are rarely adjustments to the barber hauler. We do find the block allows us to “pull hard” to bring the sheet in. That sheet has a lot of pressure on it. The ability to open the block to place the sheet in is essential. I would imagine if you just had a low friction ring it would have to be on the sheet all the time? We use our parasailor so often we like the diversity the barber hauler gives us plus the ability to move it to the opposite sheet on a change of wind or heading.
Quite a bit. The shape is different. And the parasailor has a “wing” that air travels through to give you extra lift as well as protect the sail more from blowouts.
Im currently choosing between thr Paradailir and a Symetical Spinnaker for our L48. What it the max air speed you can run ut downwind? I have heard some ripped at 15 knots.
