Fun fact about pumpkins you buy from the store: because they're grown in close proximity to one another, each pumpkin is a veritable powder keg of genetic variability. Suppliers dont expect you to grow from the seeds inside so if you do, you'll likely get a completely unexpected variety of pumpkin or squash next year that looks nothing like the one from this year.

It's wild that anyone would suspect Ben of ignoring Poggers and Queen. Most people don't work from home and leave their pets alone for upwards of 8 hours a day. Not to mention it's obvious that not only are they working dogs (the happiest kind of dogs) but that they absolutely adore Ben and have tons of socializing.

I vote for the name Lean Beef Patty! Also, it caught my attention when you mentioned that the plant life around the pond doesn't seem to want to stay alive - have you tried planting cattail or native grasses from your area? There's a really great video titled "50 Years Ago, This Was a Wasteland. He Changed Everything | Short Film Showcase" - It's about a fella in Texas who has been ecologically restoring an area, and was able to restore water to an aquifer through his use of native grasses. It's been a really helpful starting point for me in my interest in ecological restoration/conservation in Texas, but is just in general is helpful for understanding what to plant in riparian zones (areas along creekbeds, rivers, etc, basically the banks - like around your ponds!). If you can get some native grasses established around your ponds, that could maybe help with the quality of the water and mitigate how quickly it drains in the ponds you don't have liners for. :) Thank you for making your videos, you've been a big inspiration!

Man, it sucks that construction on your house is taking so long. I'm a carpenter and I feel sorry for customers who are handled like this. I can tell you it sure doesn't feel like an "honest job" like I was told it was. Thanks in large part to you, I am on my way out of the trade. You can mitigate algae with a little aluminum sulphate. It binds to phosphates and flocculates it out of the water so the algae has less food

Garbanzo (aka; “Chick Pea”) could be eating the lily pads. A more likely culprit would be a Snapping Turtle, did you put one in that pond? They also travel in the spring and fall migrating from pond to pond so one could’ve snuck into the pond without you knowing (keep your eyes peeled.) They will also eat the fish if they can catch them - especially the Gar. A suggestion would be for you to collect some local aquatic plants like Water Hyacinth, Water Lettuce, Water Lillies, Frogbit, etc, etc.. The more plants you put in there the clearer the water will be, plus if you collect them it won’t matter if they eat a few. Also, if a snapper moved in I’d set a trap and get it out of there. In addition to eating plants & fish they’ve also been known to mess up geese & duck’s foot webbing. Big snappers have been known to bite off entire feet so the Cappy Blappy’s may also be at risk! Good luck, film it if you catch one! 👍🏻

Try putting a copper pipe in the water tanks. To keep algae from growing. That’s an experiment I did. No algae grows in my rainwater tanks. Copper pipes are amazing.

Plants in a pond will Cichlid will always die off because of their nibbles and bites and they often eat all of their plants and uproot them. I'm a Certified fish manager at a small store here in California. But also ducks will eat it often too - you can mitigate algae with more plants along the edges like cat tails and reeds as well as other floating water plants like duck weed, water lettuce, and water Hyacinth. More plants will equal less algae and if you can add a shade sun sail, it'll also help algae control.
