Great vid mate very informative. I tried beach worming today, had a crack at no less than 12 worms and didn't get one, but I didn't have pliers, your video helped a lot, hopefully tomorow I'll snag a few. Cheers for the vid.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Yep it can be frustrating when starting out but just keep at it. You just need to catch a couple then it'll just click. Plastic worming pliers will definitely help. Let us know how you go!

Tom Hanks (American actor) is literally terrified of them . He goes on to say "They'll haunt your dreams. They're these things and they come up and they have these heads that if you look at them closely, they honestly look like something that the Mandalorian has to flee from out of the Tatooine."

Good video well done. My tip; put the stinky on a stick that you can push into the sand to keep while you are getting your worm out.
@GetfishingAu
@GetfishingAu 8 лет назад
+Bern Clark Thanks Bern. Yep that's definitely another way to do it, but we prefer to use the small stocking as it saves lugging a big keeper net around. But yep it does work well.

pillies ( Pilchard, bait fish, like sardine)- Stinky ( Sock or fine mesh bag filled with fish frames) - Pippies ( small beach clam, also used for bait or eaten) - Pliers ( Don't need em thumb and forefinger work the best.

Alf Bittner I was trying to understand what he was saying, basically the only thing I understood was the pliers. But it would be really bad if you're sitting in that area and then one of those things grabs a hold of nuts. But I wonder if they have them in the beaches of Louisiana or Mississippi
@alfbittner6489
@alfbittner6489 7 лет назад
Most beaches of the world attracts life under the sand be it small ghost crabs bivalve molluscs and even worms. I've watched a documentary of dolphins in Florida using their sonar to locate a tube worm under the sand, then burrow with their nose to catch them. All you can do is get a catch bag with some bait in it and move it around the sand as the water moves in and out, a worm might pop up. Catching the bastard is another thing, or drive to Main and dig blood worms on the mud flats.

Good video Robbie, but why do you put a couple of pipis/cockles on top of sand at the end? I'm only presuming to feed them, but would have thought the worms would not be feeding when in dry sand and left in a cool place at home. Thanks.
@GetfishingAu
@GetfishingAu 8 лет назад
+Geoff Smith thanks mate. I collected the pipis while catching the worms. I planed to use them for bait also and put them in the bucket simply as somewhere to keep them. They are not food for the worms :)

Fantastic video! Question: Is it safe to say there are sand worms on all beaches of the world? I am on the Gulf Coast of the USA so I'm wondering if we might have them here? I called my local fisheries dept and they started laughing when I asked them and said they had no idea nor had anyone ever asked them.

Im with you mate, about the most inefficient method I have ever seen. Youve got the worm in your finger/pliers just pull the little bastard out. I reckon anyone half decent would have 3 worms in the time it takes to perfom this multi hand, digging technique.

Blood worms are found in mud in estuaries. Beach worms can be found on most beaches but sometimes you'll have to walk great lengths to find where they're at.
