Changing bait and checking bait when in new spots. I think it goes for old holes too. Like you said look for birds and such around it'll tell ya where the shad and smaller fish are that catfish eat. Some good tips there brother. This is my second video I've watched of yours good stuff.

Always be willing to change the location of your bait and change baits at times

2 smart phones and ago pro hero 3 for the camera angles. I used only the audio from my main camera the galaxy note 9. I synced all 3 angles footage from the audio to line them up then deletes the audio off the other video angles. and just changed the angles as needed for a multi cam shot. idk what editor you use but it's very easy to do in Adobe premiere which is what I use. but yeah just some smart phones no mics, no special lenses. but there was a tad bit of luts and color grading done

theres more red ears and soft shells in this stretch of the gmr than there are snappers thank goodness. but softshells can be tricky too since thier beak is sharper. not a fan of turtles regardless unless theyre the kind that order pizza

their a bit pesky arn`t they but get in near a bridge pillar and the red eye fishing comes into it`s own just watch snagging the rocks like up at fremont. Look for the holes coming north of dayton and vandalia there are some big cats in them. used to be back when I was a kid our parents used to catch jumbo snapping turtles thru there.

Augsberger road in New Miami just upstream from Hamilton, oh. Some know this spot as the "eagles nest" because of the bald eagles that nest in the surrounding trees on the water line. It can be very tricky to get down to the water so plan to be mobile and watch your footing. One can easily fall down the cliff and get seriously injured or worse. It's not a place recommended for children or others with mobility disadvantages. Aside from that it is still a wonderful fishing spot and even just a great place to watch the national bird do its thing in the wild. Theres always photographers there shooting pictures of them

fish and game has strict rules about that these days

with braid you most certainly can, but I cant see ever having to use higher than a 65lb braid, or a 30lb mono. it's not the gear you use, it's the settings you use on the gear that matters. most importantly your drag setting, and not trying to hoarse a big fish in as fast as you can. savor the fight and enjoy the moment. :)

@@WhiskerStixFishing used to roam around down there a lot 20 years ago. Anywhere from Miamisburg to the Ohio River we fished for flats. Never really fished that area you're at but took the boat through there a few times.

sorry for the late reply sometimes doesnt always notify me. this location is locally known as the eagles nest because bird lovers come here to watch the eagles that nest on the far bank. its a bit of a steep decent to be able to fish but manageable for most people. not suited for handicapped people with need of a walker or wheelchair etc. as you have to trek down a small cliff. but its located on augsberger road torun onto it from hamilton ave, and you will see a gravel pull off on the side of the road with a yellow fire hydrant. you can park there and walk across the road to the river. from there there is a tied up rubber hose to assist you down the cliff. to save multiple trips i would plan on being light and mobile, also i would suggest going when the river is not flooded up bad for saftey sake. if there are flash floods pobbile at the time i would hold off untill conditions are better. hope this helps!

this should be a good coordinate for you to check on Google maps. the Google maps street view is outdated but I promise it's there. lol. theres been but one time ever that I've been skunked here and it was during flooded waters. current was too fast but I tried it anyways.

Circle hooks are meant to set themselves which is what I use. Theres no right or wrong way to fish :)

You can set the hook on a circle hook the same as a J hook most of them are double action that's what it means.

@@robfife07 that is very true. But when you're running three cameras and filming a show I find it a little easier to let them load up this way. Can only keep a set of eyes on so many things at once lol. If I'm not filming it's a much different story.

Set the hook like a man? I just recently switched to circles from 20 years of j and kale... my hook up ratio is 92% thanks to circles. For some reason this just crossed me as a stupid comment, I used to think the same way now I run circles and clickers and catch more fish and 0 gut hooks. Good luck to ya

Excellent video by the way. Some very useful tips. The hookset demonstration with your arm as a prop makes perfect sense. I think I know exactly where you're at. One of my three boys needed to pee real bad one day so we parked on the other side of the street and then traversed the hill to pee and throw rocks. We fish the canal at rentschler forest, washed out dam in Middletown, behind Americana, and so on. Really enjoy your videos
