There are few things more satisfying than catching a decent fish on bait you have collected yourself. Here I show you how to make your own prawn traps, and how to use them to catch live prawns. The following video will show me using the live prawns to catch bass - bass absolutely LOVE them!! Also plenty of foraging and catch and cook possibilities!!!

I use two bottles,cut the bottom off one,and cut the top off the other.Push the top inside the other bottle.and remove the lid.Leave the other lid on and drill holes in it.That way you can pour the prawns/minnows out with out a struggle. I staple the top inside the other bottle.

Hi John, just binge watching some of your previous video, love this simple but effective way of catching prawns. On you videos where you go collect from your live bait pots for crab and lobster, silly question and may sound a bit dumb, but can anyone go fishing in sea, or put their own pots in? or do you have to have a license to fish, there must be hundreds of live bait pots on sea bed. you are so honest when measuring the lobsters, some might go, it's near as damn it, but that is just not you. True honest fisherman that puts fish back and only take what is needed, not be greedy. 👍🙌🦀🦞🦐

Why not use the plastic bottle necks, pierce holes around the edges where you’ve cut the bottle, I’ll use a hot screwdriver to pierce bottle to prevent cracking. Cut the plastic bottle necks so that the widest part of the funnel is the same as your collapsible pots. Then sew bottle funnels facing inward to the holes of the collapsible net pots. Harder then for prawns to get put. I use the heavy duty collapsible, and and had nice lobster as well. Some nice prawns there.
@thefishlockerworkshop
@thefishlockerworkshop 4 года назад
- That is something I have seen people do with the heavier duty collapsible pots to convert them for prawns. I don't bother purely because it is a bit of a faff and its frustrating when you spend all that time and come back and a velvet crab has chewed the rest of the pot to bits.
