Yer just loosening them should be enough to pull the tops out of the wheel arch, tho you may need to disconnect the steering rack ends as i dont think the will go that low.

Warning.. Make sure to check the torque settings for your car elsewhere as the AUTODOC tutorial for the rear shocks suggests settings TWICE what is required and has lead to snapping components…!! Good tutorials, but dubious torque settings
