Your torque specs for the axle bolt are wrong! Should be 200nm + 180 degrees!
@subbernh5192
@subbernh5192 2 дня назад
@@kennylarson7922depends on which bolt is used. 200Nm + 180 is the hex head w/smoothe washer; 70Nm+90 is the 12pt head w/knurled flange

The service manual says not to undo the CV axle nut more than 90 degrees (1:33) with the weight of the vehicle on the wheel bearing as it can cause damage.

You forgot to tighten the three strut top mounting bolts - 15Nm + 90°. The driveshaft to hub bolt could be one of two types - ribbed inner face 70 Nm + 90°, smooth inner face 200 Nm + 180° These figures are from the VW Golf Mk6 workshop manual, but you must confirm the correct torque values for your vehicle before commencing this task. It's unacceptable that you omit key steps and essential torque data

If doing it for the first time and without a lift then put aside a day to do both sides. The roll bar droplink top nut will not come off easily and you'll strip out the 12 point hole in the bolt. The bottom three nuts - one or more of the bolts may snap requiring a new ball joint. The strut spreader tool may not spread the strut wide enough so you need to bodge it with a metal shim. The top three bolts - clean them well underneath first or they may seize and break off the captive nuts in the top mount. The drive shaft may be seized into the hub and require puller to remove. Apart from that it's just like the video shows!

The black ratchet is a made of a composite non metal material for the body and head and is much lighter than traditional ratchets. The internal gears and the socket drive are traditional metal designs.

80nm for the axle bolt doesn't seem correct (under-tightened). Also, aren't you supposed to replace these bolts every time?
@djr3485
@djr3485 4 года назад
There are potentially two types of drive shaft bolts used - they are distinguished by ribbing or the absence of such on the contact face under the 12 point head. The 12 point with ribbing is 70 NM + 90 degrees and the bolt without ribbing is 200 NM + 180 degrees. You are correct, VW calls for this bolt to be replaced and not reused. The loosening and tightening sequence in the video appears to be incorrectly performed. It is supposed to be done without weight on the wheel bearing.
