This unit works very well ru-vid.comUgkxl2o1MQU4aMgmFk_cMqer4nH2ptpDEM6h Considering the price I paid for this, I didn't have high expectations, but now after using it, I consider this is a well designed heater. Do be aware that doing the dry burn on the wick as recommended (or at least every two tanks) is absolutely necessary to avoid an unclean burn, fortunately it's easy enough to do. I'm burning dyed K1 kerosene and do a dry burn every two tanks and this is working great. This unit will heat a little over the 500 square feet that it is rated for depending on the temperature. On days it isn't bitter cold this heater will do a fair amount more. This makes an excellent emergency heat source, and also in my situation, it is a little more efficient than the electric heat in the teen temps and below.

Thank you so much for this. I have watched so many videos but was doing something wrong until I saw this one. You said to raise the wick BEFORE removing the wick assembly. I haven't done that yet and at 5:20 on your. video you said how to line up the pin heads to the holes in the center piece that raises the wick. No other video has mentioned that before. I hope that is my problem. I am quite a handyman but I'm just missing something while trying to replace a simple;e wick in a kerosene heater....... I hope your extra pointers help me get this thing in. Thanks Again.

Question, I have a kero world kw-12 heater. I used your video as a guide to change out my wick. I thought I did a good job until I went to light it. For some reason the flame is staying below the ring instead of going threw the center piece. What in the heck?

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions. I have one of those heaters, but after watching this video.. I'm thinking .. what a waste!!! just because the wick was burnt a little on the top we're supposed to throw it away?? is there a way to push it up a little ?? I meant it looks like it only burned one percent or less of the length.. any ideas anyone ??

It could be bad kerosene, or if someone put fuel oil or diesel in it. It will smoke. Kerosene is refined further and should not smoke.

I follow your video but the knob to turn the wick up and down will not turn. I pull out the assembly and check the wick to make sure it is still in place and turn the knob and it is fine. But once I install it- the knob us stuck. What is happening?
@fridaythe13thpartx
@fridaythe13thpartx 4 года назад
Julie Gilmo make sure the rubber seal is in place when you put the assembly back together.Also be careful the wick isn’t binding or bunched up anywhere as you put it back into position.And the metal collar at 6:02 actually twists and locks into position instead of just being pushed into place over the wick. Another thing to watch out for is to make sure the pins don’t pop out of the holes of the sleeve as you slide the assembly back together.If even one of them pops out a bit the wick assembly won’t raise properly.You should wear gloves as you’re doing this because of the metal spikes,make sure as you pop the wick rivets into the holes you also push the wick material snugly into theses spikes on the inner sleeve as it will keep the wick in position.(and it’s much better to work on if you siphon all the kerosene out of the tank that way if you have to reposition the wick a few times you won’t get fuel all over the place).
@jaycavalli600
@jaycavalli600 4 года назад
@@fridaythe13thpartx Quick question: Do I have to have the thin metal collar on when I put it back together? I assembled the wick just fine without it and I got the pins in place perfectly.. It's just that the collar was not letting me be great while assembling the wick, so I put it back without... I turned the knob up and down and it is working fine....just haven't lit it yet but wanted to know if this is going to be a major problem for me to where I have to reassemble again and add the collar? I hope I'm not confusing with my question. 🙏🏿

It's easier to start with an empty tank. Either burn it off or siphon it out. I did this for the first time last winter, and by the third wick replacement, it got easier. Now I needed a refresher course but this looked a lot harder than I remember.
