I got rid of the difficult to install clip and replaced it with a small rubber o-ring. Easy to install and seems to work fine.

The clip is easy to install is you use a long nose pliers. Just put c clip (I heard some people call it e-clip also not shure which one is correct) in position with your hands and then use the long nose pliers to press it. Just my two cents. Very nice done video. Hope to see more of this machine!!!

Thanks for the tip Jose! I'll give that a try the next time I have to install it. I think you are correct, this one is actually probably called an e-clip because of the little center portion that rides in the grove.

You're welcome Phillip! Good to hear your new welder has arrived. I have a couple of potential solutions for that pesky C clip for those who may be wanting to change out that liner often. I may do a video on that at some point in the future. Personally I didn't want this machine to MIG aluminum but I'm thinking that some out there did. Maybe it will help with that step and make it a quick and easy job. I'm curious how you like the welder as you get a chance to put some time on it.

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I've enjoyed welding with my HZXVOGEN HBM2280 than my YesWelder. I see that they are coming out with a new welder, the MP200, that looks promising but I already have more than enough welders.

Thanks, very helpful. The clip removal process was miserable! The suggestion of using a small diameter wire and twisting it is a great idea. Like you I wonder if you really need the clip

Thanks for your video. To remove the "C" lock you must use a small screwdriver that goes into the lock and its slot and turn the screwdriver. To place it again you must use mechanical tweezers and press it. Greetings.

Very detailed. Thank you. I lost my e-clip and can't find it even after taking the front cover off. Anyone know where to get a clip that small?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
I lost the e-clip too. I just wrapped a very small diameter piece of wire around the grove where the e-clip went and put a couple twists in it with a pair of needle nosed pliers. You could use a wire like what's in a bread tie and strip off the paper or plastic. Once you put a couple twists in it just clip off the ends nice and short. Works like a charm and it's much easier than installing that e-clip. If you need to remove it just twist it off with your needle nosed pliers, toss it in the trash and replace it with a new piece of wire when you put it back together. It sounds like a lot but it only takes a minute or so and it's a lot easier than messing with that darn e-clip IMO.

When and if I have to replace the mig liner if I go up in wire size? I bought my first mig welder. The MIG welder is currently set up for solid wire 0.6. I want to do flux core .9. I have a 0.9 tip and the .9 feeder wheel. Do I need to increase the size of the MIG wire liner, or does the migliner just come in one size?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
The mig liner should accommodate any size wire you want to weld with. Only the tips and wheels need to be changed when changing wire size.

Can I do that with my Yeswelder MIG 205DS? If I can. Would you be gentle to tell me what parts do I need to buy them. Thank you!
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 3 года назад
You could possibly purchase a graphene liner for the MIG torch, U shaped wire feed wheel and use 100% Argon for your shielding gas with the MIG 205DS. That would be all you would need but unlike the MIG 250 Pro the MIG 205DS does not have any preset "aluminum" synergic settings or manual control over the wire feed speed. I've heard it won't work because the synergic settings on the 205DS are configured to work with steel only and not aluminum. I don't think you would be able to set an appropriate voltage and wire feed speed combination to get a satisfactory aluminum weld with the MIG 205DS. Just for the record, I have not tried this and I don't own a 205DS machine but I would be curious to know how it works if you decide to give it a try.

@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10

Sure: Graphene Liner for Aluminum Welding (this liner fits the MIG gun for the MIG 250 Pro machine. I don't know if it fits the MIG gun for the 205DS) yeswelder.com/products/graphene-liner-smx-1-0-1-2?_pos=1&_psq=graphene%20liner&_ss=e&_v=1.0&ref=DIYHP10%25 I didn't find the U grove roller so I would just try the appropriate size V grove solid wire roller that came with the machine. Just set the tension lightly so it doesn't smash the aluminum wire. Again, I haven't tried this with the 205DS machine. I don't own that machine. It's just what I would try if I were in your situation. I also don't know what the results will be. (no guarantees with this as I haven't tried it with that machine) Make sure you use 100% argon shielding gas not the mix you use for MIG. Good luck to you!

Appreciate people making how to videos but dude... taking the c clip off to replace a rigid tube with one that is flexible graphene liner was just plain dumb. As soon as I pulled the clip off I realized how dumb this idea was. Anyone that did what you did after watching this is definitely cursing you or will be. The graphene line I have doesn't even fit where the tube was and my clip vanished somewhere inside the machine. You need to edit this video telling people NOT to take that tube out and if they need to put it back in to do it inside a clear plastic bag or something because when it goes flying, you'll never find it. You should have just pushed the liner in a tiny bit longer than the nut so it fits without stopping the torch from connecting to the machine. Manually thread the wire into the metal and then graphene. Pretty sure yes welder sizes the graphene liners and that's why you just happened to have the same exact length as the tube you shouldn't have removed. I'm pretty sure your graphene liner will be split at the roller in no time and then your liner and part of your wire spool will be garbage.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
You're giving me way too much credit. I didn't write the instruction manual I just followed the steps. You potentially have a good idea there. You should make a video and show everyone how you think it should be done. Maybe it will work better and help some people out.

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Sorry bud.. I've never even mig welded before to be honest I have common sense which only gets you so far without experience. I've had some issues getting everything I needed to start learning to weld aluminum. I've stick welded a bunch but crappy welder welding on a crappy welder wasn't too pretty.When I posted here I literally came straight from the garage after trying to get that C-Clip back on. I was more frustrated with it than anything you did. That first coil you took out I ruined pulling it out with pliers but figured out that it can be spun in and out like a bolt. I cut a piece off the copper coil at the end of the graphene liner to temporarily replaced it but I only have a 1lb spool of aluminum and there some drag so, I'll remove it like you did and see if it help. Does it stick to the tube you took the clip off? The only thing I could try was another piece of that copper coil but It seems like there is a lot of drag there too when I just thread it though. My graphene liner doesn't fit through that hole PS: I do have common sense but I also have uncommon sense and neither one is right all the time. Sorry again. Cheers
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
No problem and I get it. That C clip is frustrating and I struggled with it too. I haven't tried it but I have wondered if the rear C clip is even necessary. You could possibly leave the C clip on the front and just remove and insert the metal guide tube from the front of the machine when switching to the graphene liner. I've lost my rear C clip too. Now I just wrap small gauge piece of wire where the C clip goes and twist it like a bread twist tie and clip the ends. When I need to remove it again I just break the wire with my needle nosed pliers and install a new twist tie when it's time. Much easier to do than fiddling with that dreaded C clip.
@jmcgrath5031
@jmcgrath5031 Год назад
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I ended up winding tiny spring around it but you might be right about not needing . I only have a 1lb spool atm and the simder welder I just got isn't liking it. Might try shaving the liner down a touch to get it to fit in the hole so I can try without that tube and see if lessens the drag a bit. I'll pick up a 2 pounder and see how much different the drag is because right now it's moving like an eskimo wearing one concrete snow shoe and one cross country sky being chased by a pregnant three legged polar bear.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
I hope you are able to get it running smooth. 👍

Can the graphene liner be left in place for solid wire? I don't really want to go back and forth. Seems a lot of muck. Is this liner a substitute for spool gun?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 3 года назад
Hello Jason, I don't have any experience welding aluminum with MIG. My guess is that if you use the graphene liner to weld with solid wire it will probably wear out much faster than the liner designed for solid wire. I completely understand your not wanting to keep switching back and forth. Neither do I :) Yes, this liner is a substitute for a spool gun. I think the intent is to allow the aluminum capability without the expense of buying a spool gun.
