I watched this video 3 or 4 times before deciding to buy the belt and do this myself. After watching the video, I bought the Hunterworks belt and clutch puller and it was as easy as described! I even used the dreaded impact method!! This video was the reason Hunterowrks got my business. Thanks again.
I have watched all Todd’s videos and have learned so much! I have emailed Todd with questions and he responded very quickly and professionally. I will never buy another belt, nor will I ever ask questions of anyone else!! Hunter works has my business for life
That was a great video. I love how you show the different ways and I love how you tell people about using an impact wrench. I feel the same way after doing it for so many years. Whether it's on other pieces of hardware or machinery, you just know how it feels!
Been running gates belts on everything, but I will probably at least buy your primary puller. May even try out one of your belts one day. Great informative videos. Thank you!
Great video, I pulled the secondary after struggling for an hour trying to use the clutch tool. Everything went great until the washer for the secondary blew up.. guess I miss judged my Matco impact haha
Your videos are super helpful I have just recently bought a 2010 ranger 900 diesel keeps shredding belts so have bought a new secondary hoping that solves it 🤞🤞
I leave the secondary unbolted, and put the belt on with the secondary open to save from twisting the belt back on. Same way you took the belt off by unbolting the secondary works for putting it back on with ease.
Maybe for you but if done wrong, the belt sits low in the secondary, when you tighten it, it tightens against the belt, then when you drive it, the belt moves up and the secondary is loose. If done correctly it can be done and you seem to know that method, but not one we would show anyone, too much liability for us using that method
Thank you for the video for it was easy to follow. I do have one strong suggestion though and that is maybe add a highlight to the video where you are reinstalling the six bolts on the clutch cover to make sure you line up the X on the cover to the X on the stationary sheaves. I did this thinking I would have to pull the primary clutch cover off again but by shear luck I lined up the X correctly. Just suggestion and other than great videos for Im getting educated fast on the services on my RZR.
Thank you for posting these videos! Wonderful demonstration and explanation. Had to laugh at your "dumb ass" comment and attitude... spot on: only way to handle the ugly side of comment boards IS to chuckle. I just "inherited" my brother's RZR 900S since he owed me some money, and because he's upgrading to a 4-seater for his kids (says he's gonna miss the 900S). Anyway, I don't have a lot of mechanic experience but am excited to learn these basics. Appreciate your efforts to share your knowledge. I'll be picking up a Hunterworks belt. Next I need to learn how to change the oil... my husband will think he's died and gone to heaven.
Good video. Gonna have to keep this in mind for the future. Just had my cover off thusorning to blow outbany accumulated dust after a real dirty ride last weekend. (It was surprisingly clean). Frankly it looks like taking the dang cover off is more cunbersome than changing the belt. But yeah, cool.
Access..... If the wheel is off, you can get to those bottom bolts better I'm betting. But I was pleased anyway..... Incredibly dusty trail day, and VERY LITTLE dust in the belt area. Intake filter, another story!!!
When using the special tool on the secondary clutch is the shaft tapered allowing the belt tension to loosen or how does it work thank you great straight up video tks
I’m like another on here. Just stumbled onto your video, love the approach you take. Stupid question, 2019 XP1000 eps, should it have come out with a tool kit? Ours did not. Will double check with dealer. Will be getting on your site and ordering belt and primary removal tool. Thanks for being here for us dummy’s
Envy mostly, you know why Honda's don't tear up much? Not enough power to tear it up!!! I would rather have a belt than that ultra expensive tranny when it goes out after warranty
Why can't I get my new belt on my polaris 900xp? The circular hub on the right just won't let me get the belt completely over it. It seems like it's too small of a belt but the shop that sold it to me said it is the exact belt needed for all these. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!
Is it OK to drive about 10-15 miles with a few of the strings on it, I blew a belt with very minimum tools when at home I'll pull secondary pulley off and clean it up? Good video. I just subscribed now.🇺🇸🇺🇸
How much play is in secondary pully.big one..working on one now that has clunking noises n rear diff, but the pulley has in n out play to..wore out bushings, sloppy ujoints on the output shafts.ugh I hate these things.
@@Hunterworks yeah its got a Lil bit of slop.just gonna run it n see.lots of other problems to like worn bushings noisy bearings in diff cases.l/r cases f/r.clunky on low throttle n prob crappy belt.more than likely needs the washer fix..belt seems to be riding on the flat spot down in there.im not a polaris expert at all other than changing a belt here n there by manhandling it off.no tool.
Might be best for you to watch our alignment tool video that will explain it. The short of it, 6 bolts holds engine and tranny together, they loosen or break etc
How much do you charge to change the belt and go from square pucks to the round ones..also is it better to put a clutch kit in one and does it help the low end a lil better or not...
We don't offer the service to do it, just videos and the parts. Clutch kit depends, have a new video whether you need one or not. Look on our channel for it
@@Hunterworks hope so. Sat night I was riding and suddenly at about 30 it wouldn't speed up so I let off and gassed it again and same. Then engine light came on and it made noise so I stopped and towed it home. Came down with covid and been sick as a dog since and worrying about it. Sure hope that's all it is. Thanks I'll let you know when I feel like checking it
Hey Todd, I had my shifter cable changed and my belt changed about a month ago at the dealership. Every since I got my 2014 Polaris Ranger 900 Crew back, If I hit brakes going forward or reverse, the majority of the times, the engine dies. It almost seems as if the clutch is not releasing the belt or something. Any ideas what could have happened? I took it back to the dealer today, but I just need an insight before they call me telling me I need more parts or service. Let me know. Thanks.
Is that the same as a 2019 polaris rzr 900 pulley Because I burly bought one and went to drive it and it doesn't move back or forward it used to Before I put in the water
Hi Todd, could you install the new belt by removing the secondary like you showed us and just putting the new belt around the primary 1st and then around the secondary and push the secondary into place and securing the bolt? Kinda like you did with the primary last on the video. Thanks
That's pretty much how I do it. You just have to have the secondary in your hands, put the belt around the secondary, then slip it over your primary, and then put your secondary back onto the machine. Super easy, and no belt twisting.
@@kennyhaworth9606 same answer, not enough info, no idea what this vehicle is, best to get help by emailing me todd@hunterworks.com put on there vehicle, tires, miles on it and style of riding along with any clutch mods you have done already
Hello, I’ve been struggling to pull off my primary for a couple hours now. It got submerged and think that it’s rusted shut. My puller is good but not sure if impact is strong enough. Any suggestions? Already tried the hammer and don’t want to do the grease bomb trick.
Having trouble with my 2016 xp 4 1000 it is out of time and me and my cousin have been working on it for past 2 months we have seen and looked at videos what is the procedure to have it align right on the crank and the lobes were off and we adjusted them and did the manually turn and torqued ever bolt to specifications anyone know what's the issue? And what markings r we suppose to b looking for to make it TDC in the crank still no start last night please help..Thanks
What happens to the engine if you put the belt on the by turning the engine the opposite direction? We did this to a friend's machine and his engine now has zero compression now.... No warning labels... It ran before we took the belt off and now it's got zero compression... Does it break the timing chain tensioner??? I popped off the oil fill cap and can see the cam turning... I'm at a loss... He does have a warranty on power train. I can't imagine turning the engine the opposite direction (not even a full turn) will cause catastrophic failure.
Yes, I can send this to my email, todd@hunterworks.com , we can do some back and forth, send you videos to watch to show you what to look for but you have a serious failure but we will find it
Ideally yes, they are not very expensive for piece of mind. Plus you WILL use them ALL the time once you get used to them. Run them on w/ impact then finish w/ torque. EZ!
I have a 2015 Polaris ranger 900 xp . Do a lot of slow rocky riding usually with two big guys in the machine checking cameras hunting etc at my hunting camp in Maine . Found your site on you tube and watching your videos I see your belts are slightly thicker then the stock belts . I got 2700 miles out of the stock belt but it’s been jumping a lot lately. Hopefully your belt stops that . Just ordered one and look forward to that jumping stopping .
Mostly our custom dimensions to accomplish a particular goal. No one else has a belt dimensioned like ours. Then simply the material and how they are put together. We can back it up too, over 30,000 sold and failure rate at less than 1%
You need to get a new label design on your product its so boring and dull put a name on it like diablo mabye some red and some claws i resently searched on ebay for one seen yours and just skipped it went straight to the Xtreme Dayco mostly because of the name and design on the pic of the label
Bob Valenz not sure how to reply to that. Enjoy your substandard belt with its fancy label. We prefer to sell on our name and quality products over a fancy label.
Lmfao ok Bob...that’s literally the same as admitting you prefer marketing gimmicks over quality. Anyways, I’ve got a shiny bronze coated turd for sale if you’d like to buy it
