Its the week before Christmas and despite my general good luck no electrician can be found in my part of the world for such mundane call out. So after I attempted to do this just by staring at it and subsequently injuring my ring finger from those horrid springs I found your video. What a beauty. Thank you and I really mean it.
Thanks - all 4 in my bathroom had gone. After the first one I went to change the bulb, saw wires and panicked. Arranged for an electrician to come and give me a quote. Finances meant I cancelled and checked your video instead. All changed now by myself. Thank you :)
Thank you so much I did it no problem at all as one Bulb blew at my Grandparents House in the Kitchen my Grandad has Parkinson’s and needs a handyman to replace them but not anymore as I can now do it for him 😊
I still can't work out how to get the clip back. Sorry but what way up do the prongs go and do you have to have them in a particular place when you put the light back? I can't seem to do it though I've watched this three times. Sorry...
That particular type of spotlight bulb is called a 2 Pin MR16 bulb. It's 50mm in diameter. There is also a 2 Pin MR11 bulb which is 35mm in diameter. I hope that has helped. Thanks for watching.
Hi.. thanks for making this informative video.. I have same type of spotlight.. however after removing the circlip.. I notice that it is stuck in the bulb housing.. it looks like bulb is bit twisted inside the housing.. any suggestions how to remove it?
This can happen if the bulb has been in the housing for a long time. Ensure the light is switched off and the bulb is cool. Give it a wiggle and twist to see if it will loosen. You could also dislodge it with a screwdriver but be careful not to shatter the bulb. If you feel confident enough to lower the entire spotlight (the housing itself) you may be able to push the bulb out from the back. Best of luck
Sometimes the bulbs just get wedged in. Once the bracket has been removed just try and give it a wiggle or use a small spoon or blunt knife to try and leaver it out carefully. Please ensure the lights are turned off and the bulb is cool. Good luck.
