Hmm interestin... Thanks to Peter for uploading this tutorial. I am just a maintenance man (not a qualified plumber!) but if anyone finds their way here, Pete's tutorial is one of the clearer ones for UK toilets. (The americans use different lever assemblies) I managed to repair my snapped flushing lever (inside the cistern) for under £7 (Call out charge for a real UK Plumber? £75 plus, right?) Anyway, there are different flushing levers in use... (as Pete points out) I just got lucky that my old lever shaft was identical to the hole in my new lever! Its a very simple repair if you have a few simple tools and take heed of what Pete says! The main thing to get right is the ANGLE of the lever at rest when you fit a new one: you can see in Pete's vid its angled down at rest (maybe 15 degrees or at the same level as the green unit in the cistern). Good video but just a minor comment. The shape in the lever isn't octagonal. It is hexagonal....
