Actually you can remove all the fluid in the reservoir.. the reason you don't want it to empty when bleeding brakes is because it's sucking and will pull air into the system, whereas when not bleeding and just sucking it out with pump or turkey B you'll be completely fine and no air will be in the system

If you're on flat ground you can drop the level well below the min line. That line is only there to make sure as your car tilts while driving and temperatures change, the level doesn't drop so low that air will be sucked in. This whole process will be much more efficient if you can see the intake hose at the bottom of the reservoir and just make sure you don't drop all the way to that level.

It's called the "Ranger method" its a lazy army thing lol. While people say it's not a recirculating system yes that's true BUT the temperature differentials will bring the hotter brake fluid by the calipers up to the resivor so yes this will actually work over time. I also suggest going all the way to the bottom when sycking out most have a 2 section system where you can't take out too much. I also recommend putting in Motul 5.1 DOT fluid. DOT 3, 4, and 5.1 can all be mixed, it's only 5.0 that does not mix with anything except 5.0. 5.1 also has a higher max temperature point. Racing brake fluid that's 4.0 may go even higher BUT don't use racing 4.0 it is thicker and don't last as long. 5.1 is the same thickness as regular 3 and 4 but having the high racing max temp range while lasting the same long time. Motul 5.1 is the way to go. Cool video you rarely see people mention the ranger method because they don't want to get made fun of but it 100% does work and I'm glad you made this video. This method is wayyyyy better than the never change your fluid method :)

Motul 5.1 doesnt last as long as racing brake fluid is more hydroscopic so needs to be changed out more frequently.
@extrememiami
@extrememiami 2 года назад
@@riyadyar racing brake fluid needs to be changed more often like you said. Motul 5.1 is not racing brake fluid. Motul only makes a racing brake fluid in 4.0 not 5.1. I use the 5.1 so it lasts longer and has a dry boiling point of 516°F (272°C). I have not seen any 5.1 fluid in the racing formula that needs to be changed often, it may exist though. From what I've seen all dot 5.1 are for regular every day driving just with higher boiling points. I am not just going on hearsay also, I have tested this fluid monthly because I wasn't sure if I believed the claim either and 6 months later it still tests at or below 1% absorption. Racing fluid would already be over 5% after this long, so for sure Motul 5.1 is THE one to go with.

You shouldn't judge brake fluid by its color. 3 is clear but as you go up dot4 or 5 into the synthetics it becomes more and more darker in color the problem with brake fluid is that it loves to absorb water and when it does then it becomes dangerous! You can have perfectly clear brake fluid in your car but if it has water in it and you can't tell just by looking at it you will actually need to test the fluid then that brake fluid is bad fluid and needs to be replaced AsAP, you can have brake fluid that looks like tar okay maybe not tar, but you get exactly what I mean though if you check that dark fluid and it says that there's no water in it then that fluid is perfectly fine to be used inside your caliber hope this helps!

@JakeCande
@JakeCande 2 года назад
to: everyone else with their brain turned on… your brake system is hydraulic pressurized system. THERE NO CIRCULATION. this isn’t an attic that needs to be vented out. there can be no air, no moisture, not even the smallest opening. cause even with a single loose bleeder valve, can compromise the system and cause depressurization. YOUR BRAKES. NO STOP. brake fluids moves through the system as you brake. using the brakes causing a pressure in the system, which pumps fluid through all the brakes back in and through your master cylinder. if air is sucked in from the master cylinder it will distribute into the brake lines/calipers. and the only way to get that out, is to BLEED THE SYSTEM. it does NOT circulate out of a pressurized system. DONT EVEN get me started why air/moisture is catastrophic is a hydraulic enclosure my guy. respectfully doe ✊🏽 all love. that’s what i’m here for and love to do, i’m actually working on my brake pads and rotors how-to right now. ✌🏽

@@JakeCande 1# air will only get in the system if you push the brake pedal while the reservoir is empty. (( have you heard about gravity bleeding)). #2 the fluid gets mixed together the new fluid will dilute the old one. When you push the brake pedal the master cylinder sucks fluid from the reservoir pressurizing the fluid that pressure pushes the brake pistons. So if you keep replacing the fluid in the reservoir very often you at certain point you will have all new fluid. When you pressurize gas oil or water they get mixed . If you keep replacing the brake fluid in reservoir the moisture in brake fluid will drop to even 1 or less that all depends on how many times you want to keep doing it.

This won't do anything for the dirty waterlogged brake fluid down in the wheel cylinders/brake calipers where all braking issues arise as that's where the heat is generated from the brakes, After refilling the master cylinder with clean fluid you must bleed each wheel starting from the furthest away from the master cylinder, Bleed the fluid until fluid comes out clean and clear, Repeat procedure on remaining three wheels taking care to check and refill master cylinder after each wheel bled.

low brake fluid will. i’m not too sure if “bad” brake fluid will. i have slip, tcs, abs, and brake lights on because i have oversized tires/rims. it’s messing with the wheels speed sensors. there’s a few reasons why those lights can come on, most reasons have something to do with the ABS system.

Did you use the same brake fluid bottle for the changes? I heard somewhere that once you open the brake fluid bottle its recommended not to use is because moisture can affect the fluid itself. Wondering if there's any authenticity to that?
@robertmtz94
@robertmtz94 Год назад
I wondered this too. A sealed bottle of break fluid has a shelf life of two years. Once it is open, it’s best to use it within one year or less. Because break fluid absorbs moisture from the air, it’s hygroscopic. But think about the master cylinder being open (exposed to air) every now and then when it’s opened to inspect it. It’s then capped. Just like a bottle of fluid, you use it, then cap it off.
