On a regular oil change it should take 3.5-3.7quarts depending on how much drained out (basically how long you waited). 4.5 is going to be a problem. This is the exactly why I started doing my own work. If you can't be bothered to look up the basic requirements that are readily available on something so vital then you shouldn't be working on other people's cars. Also, the fact that you checked the dip stick within seconds of filling is a big problem, all that oil isn't registered on there yet so what you showed is even lower than what it is.

I googled it to fact check this and had to double back to make sure he actually said 4 and a half and not 3 and a half. Honestly crazy.

I think first step is to remove the oil cap to release the vacuum so the oil flows easier. I got dirty oil not doing that first because it was still trapped in engine even though I let it drain 20 minutes.

You said 4.5 quarts of oil in an Accent and .5 goes in the oil filter. The Accent only takes 3.8 quarts of oil.

User manual says 3.8 quarts. Why are you overfilling the engine?

Yeah the manual says 3.5 quarts and the autozone system says 3.5 quarts

My manual says 3.8 quarts, I've got a 17. Doesn't hurt anything to put in an extra 0.2 quarts of oil in there.. now once you overfill it half a quart or more that's when you're asking for trouble.

If u referring to the guy says 3.8 only way for me to prove it is to let th car come back put 3.5 and check and clear that and I will once I get this car come back

@@gratealex8 well if ur Manuel says that much put that much and then check it but even if u add little more it will not hurt or damage anything I think we have different cars ... I drain out engine for good 10-20 minute so they r completely drained usually that 10 minute quick oil change dosent drain out all oil how ever just check after u add the amount let the engine run for 20 seconds then turn it off and give it good 3 mins for oil to settle up and check the level

Prime new oil filter with fresh oil before installing. Accents have weak oil pumps

Holy crap, don't you ever drain the last of the fresh oil out of the individual quarts? I feel certain had you set the quart bottle into the funnel, you could drain the last of the oil into the engine, and then you would not need the 5th quart. Slow down!
