How to Change the oil on a dodge challenger, mine is a 2015 but this video should apply to all years for R/T's In a pinch weld jack adapter: www.inapinchwel...
On the 5.7 and 6.1, they both call for 7 quarts. I and everyone else noticed that the dipstick shows way overfilled. 6.5 quarts makes dip stick read perfectly.
I was about to say. I only caught this when I accidentally put 8 quarts. Really looking at my stick and I was paranoid. Until I hit 6 1/2. It hit exactly on the second dot.
Great video. I’m about to change the oil in my wife’s R/T as well. I’m really glad to see you can do the job using a floor jack vs. ramps. My biggest concern is scraping the splitter.
glad you liked the video, yeah the chin spoiler is easy to scrape on anything steep, i would never suggest using ramps for any car work in my experience, they are unsafe. best of luck!
Great vid, thanks for sharing. That Pennzoil platinum is great oil, my 2015 challenger RT plus loves it!! I used Mobil One full synthetic one the first oil change and it used a quart between oil changes, which I had the dealer I bought the car from do, and then took it to the dodge dealer and told them it used a quart and they were like, you should try the pennzoil platinum and it never used a drop between oil changes. I bought the car used with about 47k on it and now I've put 11k on it and absolutely love this car!! Was thinking about doing my own oil change this next time which is what brings me to your vid!! Thanks again for sharing!!
I have had good luck with the oil, i've never needed to top it off. glad the video was of help, save your self the money and do the changes yourself :)
Coming from a BMW and N54 engine, I wish American manufacturers would put the oil filter on top of the engine and use a paper replacement one, it's so much easier.
Changed my oil today for the first time and couldn't get the oil filter off. 2016 r/t. Had to put the new oil in it with the old oil filter. Not happy. Thinking about buying a oil filter wrench and hopefully that will work. Or would it be best to have the dealership remove it?
Your in the same situation i was in the first time I changed it. I used three different removal tools to try to get it off. none of them worked, one of them actually broke. If your not feeling confident just bring it into the dealership, tell them to put the new filter on as quick as possible, so you don't lose too much of the new oil you put in. then top the oil off. That's what I did.
Always start your car after an oil change and looked underneath it just to check that there’s nothing leaking oil just in case you didn’t notice something and fucked it up
Ein Prosi :D Ahoi, thanks a lot !!!!!!!!! Yesterday i bought my 2015 R/T and a service ist comming soon.....I will take a 5W-40 fully synthetic oil . Andreas
