How to change region on your Nintendo 3DS in 2024! (ULTIMATE GUIDE) 

Does this install Luma? Trying to get DS games running from Home Screen. I have twilight menu and forwarder but I get the error 1 message _nds/ntr-forwarder/sdcard.nds not found. Any suggestions?

Yes when you mod your 3ds you get luma. But if you region change you will loose everything!

@@RetroBoyy Right. So, in my case, I had a main N3DS on EU region and then I bought a second hand US region (didn’t know it was US before it arrived) N3DSXL. In order to change regions successfully and be able to access eShop and Street Pass on it I would need to 1. know the credentials of the previous user to remove their account from eShop and 2. do some special backup which after region change apply some files from in order get it work. Highly doubt I would be able to convince my seller to give me his Nintendo account. That operation in of itself would have also been quite difficult. Too much hassle. Decided I would simply keep the old N3DS for the saves of the games I wanted to continue playing and Street Pass. Wouldn’t get much on it anyway.

You cant region change first. It has to be modded to region change.

fixed it! it was fully charged but it only updated with the charger plugged in. so weird but all good now!

Hey missing what? The only part i did not include is the back up part. And the reason i did not include it is because i feel like its almost useless. I have sold over 500 modded 3ds-es and never had anyone come back with a serius issue.

@@RetroBoyy like I said decent tutorial just need to let people know in the beginning that they will lose saved data.. and you stated in the beginning of the video that your ds needs to be modded already so 90 percent of people following will already have the homebrew apps causing them to attempt to download apps on top of each other causing other errors that aren’t needed. Just giving my two cents not bashing bro

I see. Nothing that will brick your device though. And Im pretty sure most People are changing from japanese 3ds consoles to the region they want. In that case they dont have anything important. There is no reason to change your 3ds from any other region like from usa to eur or whatever since the mod makes them region unlocked anyways

I have just fixed it!! I forgot I had Pretendo enabled before changing the region of my console. I've just launched Pretendo and switched back to Nintendo Network.

btw,my 3ds is originally a Japanese 3ds,then the seller change it to USA

Probably something wrong with their errors. Only download the one for your console. They should update the link soon if its not working anymore. Have you tried another browser?

Try reinstalling files on the sd card. Not sure though. Also try updating luma

No clue. You might have to factory reset the game. I know there is a way to change the Language on pokemon games. But dont remember How you do it.

​@@RetroBoyy...no it doesn't, that's only because you didn't do like half the steps on the official region change guide. You didn't make a NAND backup beforehand, do a CTRTransfer Ticket Copy, or run faketik. If you are going to make a video guide on something that can brick your 3ds, can you try to match it up with the official guide? The official guide can be found by pressing the menu icon and selecting "Region Changing" on the website. I would send a link, but RU-vid doesn't like those for some reason.

@@RetroBoyy it’s a Hb region changer but you don’t lose your data. Much better than all this hassle. Also your method has a 15% soft brick chance

@neelgaming3997 i have done this region change over 80 times and never bricked a console or ever come close to bricking one. Ill have to look into it though.

@@RetroBoyy yes it does I’ve changed my region to Japanese and back with Hans, you need to run another pay load. Your method messes with the nand which has a slim chance of a brick, you should be fine tho if u back up your nand
