This was my first time ever working on this vehicle and it was pretty simple.

I found a buddy who did work for a dealership. I swapped my alternator out, I paid him double what mechanics make, paid him $150, and bought my own parts for 608, new belt and alternator. Dealerships charges an arm and a leg. It really is criminal. I try to do most of my work if I can. But that was above my pay grade. I can't believe how much they charge.

After watching this video I decided I didn't even care how much the dealer wanted for this work, I did it myself. Thank you very much for a great video, direct and to the point. Just as an aside, as other people have done, I'll list a couple of things I did differently. I did one cylinder at a time so that I only had one cylinder opening open. I also added the anti-seize to the threads of the new spark plugs.

Thank you so much! This was a very easy DIY project. I had most of the tools already. Couldnt find the exact extraction tool you used, but found a Duralast 11" straight needle nose at Auto Zone that fit perfectly in the spark plug socket. Saved me a trip to the mechanic and about $120!

Good video. I inserted the spark plug using a rubber flexible hose to grip the ceramic end of the plug. You can buy a rubber hose in most auto shops. Also, put dielectric grease on the coil end to preserve the spark plugs ceramics from cracks over time and create a good seal.

Good idea! I never add the grease. It’s just become habit by now. I’ll never turn anyone away from going above and beyond though!

You can also use the end of a spark plug .wire at least you can feel if you're cross threading the plug.

Best way a magnet or a long hose fitting into the sparkplugs. You grabbed it with a long metal tool where you might damage the tip of the sparkplug. Forgot torque specs plus blowing the area before taking them out. And pre-gap check unless you bought them from the dealer.

For a 20 min job, firestone quoted me 1 hour of labor plus 85 for the plugs. Realistically they were honest about how long it took and I was in and out under an hour. Doing it yourself is easy and cheaper for sure. But not all shops are gonna Rob you.

Honestly they are cheap and it’s a Nissan . If it was a high end Vehicle as in more than 100k Value car that uses high end components then yes. On these it’s always good to just replace them all at once Cheap 20 dollar spark plugs.

I have to try changing my spark plugs because Nissan dealer wants to charge over 1,000 for tune up and all 4 ignition coils
@veggigoddess
@veggigoddess 9 месяцев назад
That makes no sense because Nissan Rogues in this time frame do not need a standard tune-up. They were made so they don't. All that's needed in a tune-up for a Nissan Rogue in this year range are spark plugs, which cost about $10 each so just purchase them from the store and get a mechanic to install them which then you're just paying for labor. No reason to ever go to a dealership unless you literally have no other option

I have 200,000 miles on my Rogue... same plugs... I get the exact same mileage as I've always gotten... starts perfectly. Actually I dont think that I've changed any plugs on my cars for at least 25 years now. I've only had to replace a left front caliper on my Rogue.. everything else was just routine maintenance that i do myself. Oil Changes every 15k miles... by now, if something were to go wrong.. I can just go buy another car....however this time a Toyota. I miss my Lexus.. nice knowing the car will be reliable.

@@Boost-EdAutomotive I did have an old Chevy, that was my first car and I was driving to work one day and it was very foggy outside and I was having a misfire. But I know that the only reason that is happening is because my spark plug wires are shorting out. So I went and bought new wires and I left the same spark plugs in there and that cured everything. I'm a tool and die maker but at one point I wanted to be an auto mechanic and I finished high school with a 104% average in auto. I worked in the garage as an installer for 5 years and sometimes I would help the mechanics diagnose problems and even though it wasn't my job, sometimes I would be bored and I would say that I can change this water pump or alternator and things like that. Even though that's all I do on my car, routinely check my belt for cracks and look for leaks and change the air filter I do servicing on my brakes every fall to make sure the calipers are nice and loose and I sprayed the bottom of my car with fluid film that is in the aerosol can because that is not water soluble. The bottom of my car looks brand new because this stuff will never wear off. In my Malibu my first car I seen that I had Rusty brake lines, my mechanic friend at my part-time job change it for me. I told him to take the entire brake system apart and replace every single line. I don't care what the cost is I just want to have everything new so I do look after things and when I was teaching my wife how to drive I told her before any drive like if you go to the parking lot and your car is there just look on both sides and see how the tires are and I always, I mean always keep an eye out on tire pressures including the spare. I've helped out my friends in the past with their car issues and tell them what to watch out for. I had a Pontiac Bonneville ssei that had two belts and they wore out every 6 months. That was so unreliable that when I was done with it I didn't even sell it I told them to crush it because that's what it deserved.

I just changed my alternator myself by using a video to guide me and now I need help with changing my spark plugs and oil change. So you have a video on oil change for 2015 Nissan rogue?
@Boost-EdAutomotive
@Boost-EdAutomotive 2 месяца назад
I didn’t have a chance to do one. We’ve since sold the vehicle. If you cant find a video then look up location of the oil filter and drain plug. All it is is take off the drain plug, let all the oil drain, put the drain plug back in, take the old oil filter out and let it drain, rub oil on the new oil filter where it mounts to the engine, install oil filter hand tight and then fill up with recommend oil and check level. The first time you do it after a shop will be the hardest. The plug will be too tight along with the oil filter

A best practice would be to use compressed air or a strong leaf blower to remove dust and debris from the top of the engine befpre removing the coils. This keeps debris/dust from potentially falling in the plug coil hole (spark plug housing).

For those wondering: The Pittsburgh impact sets work pretty nicely, and have the added bonus of being durable. Don't use an actual impact drill on spark plugs though. Some spark plugs, like Denso, ask you to not use anti seize-- they mean it! The old Denso that came with the car came out fairly easily despite being very overdue. We used a little dielectric on the boot to make slipping it on easier. Best of luck to anyone else doing this.
