@commonsense7754 I did not use a spacer, but I’ve done several prints since the changeover and have had no issues. The fep film separates from the prints correctly and I don’t have any visible print lines so I’m not gonna go through the effort of changing the film until it starts to show signs of failure. Wayyy too much effort to change the film out if it’s still working 😅. If I had to guess, the spacers are probably more instrumental for the smaller printers because it’s much easier to get the film too tight because the surface area is smaller and easier to work with whereas with the M3 Max I was worried I had it too loose right up until it was completely tightened and then it sounded the same as my previous film. People’s mileage may vary though.

You’ll have to pry it off after spraying a bit of IPA as resin might’ve gotten in between that area & if allowed to dry it can become a very sticky substance which I’ve unfortunately had to clean up several times. The IPS should help soften the dried resin enough to loosen it & allow you to remove it.

I tried it without a spacer thinking the new material of the FEP didn't need one. The tension was too tight. Even with using a lubricant on the film, my prints stuck to the film, not the supports. Went back, used a cap and all was good. I like the new FEP material, but I still needed a spacer.

@@gregs9088 I eventually did it without spacer, it worked pretty well, though I tried to get the tension right by "sound", i.e. tightening it to the point where the FEP sounded like the old one when tapped.

Yes, you are supposed to place something like a screw on plastic soda cap in the center to give the FEP some room to stretch. This way is wrong, the FEP is under a lot of tension.
