Hi Guys, Nikko is here!
In this video, I’m going to change the oil in my main motorcycle Honda CTX700 DCT with dual clutch transmission.
It’s rather simple work but it requires some additional actions compared to other bikes because you need to replace not one but two oil filters and you need to remove the lower plastic cowl to get access to the filters.
I hope this video will be helpful for some of you. Please read the relevant section of your Honda Owner’s Manual before doing this work.
This procedure is also applicable to other Hondas with the same engine such as NC700, NC750, NM4, etc.
Oil capacity (CTX700D with replacing 2 filters): 3.6 US quarts = 3.4 liters
Oil type: SAE 10w-30
You don’t need special “motorcycle” oil. You just need any engine oil with SAE 10w-30 classification without “resource conserving” or “energy conserving” additions. Please refer to the Owner’s Manual for details.
Torque Specs:
Oil drain plug = 22 lb ft
Engine oil filter = 19 lb ft
Clutch oil filter cover = 7 lb ft = 84 in ft
Make sure that you install the clutch oil filter the right side out (it’s written on the filter “out side”) - it is very important! Also, don’t forget the spring between the filter and the cover.
Parts you’ll need: new oil, new oil filter, new drain plug washer (it’s not reusable), new clutch oil filter, and new o-ring for the clutch filter cover. All part numbers are shown in the video.
I’ve bought all tools and materials that I’m using in this video with my own money, and they are not sponsored (unfortunately).
A legal disclaimer: I’m not a certified motorcycle mechanic. I may be wrong in something and I do cut corners sometimes. Use my videos at your own risk. Always read the applicable service manual thoroughly before any work and follow the procedures recommended in the manual.
