By default, WordPress uses wp-admin to log in to its dashboard and this can be a security issue. Thus, in this WordPress tutorial video, we will quickly learn how you can change the WordPress login URL using a very simple plugin WPS Hide login.
Using the WPS hide plugin, you can use a custom URL for your WordPress login URL. YOu can change it to any name you like, so it becomes incredibly hard for anyone to get access to your site. Those who try to log in with the default wp-admin will be directed to a 404 page (or another page you'd want). We really hope this video will help strengthen your WordPress security.

Is there a way to do this without using any plugins and just by putting code in the functions.php file? I have found codes to replace the URL but when I try to enter the new URL that I put, it gives me a 404 error.

Just checked it out in WP and found your video as I'm indecisive. Plugins last update was 6 months ago, what do you have to say about this?

Does the user logins from the same wp-admin page? Login attempt limit can restrict anyone to make multiple tries to gain access of the site, so it can add a layer of security to help prevent brute force attack.
