How to Change Vroid Beta Hair Type from Overall Hair to Extra! (Disappearing Issue Fixed)

Here is a text description of the process, in case you're having a hard time following my insane ramblings: First, SAVE YOUR MODEL. We are dealing with unintended glitches, which simply lag the frame rate if you have a decently powerful computer, but could crash your program all together if you're not careful. Next, make sure you're converting a COPY of the .vroidcustomitem file (found in C:\Users\{INSERT_YOUR_PC_USERNAME_HERE}\AppData\LocalLow\pixiv\VRoid Studio\custom_items\N00-AllHair). This is VERY IMPORTANT: the glitched hair cannot be edited. If you want to make edits, you need a backup file in Overall Hair to make any, and re-convert. To find the hair you want to convert easily, save it as a new item in Vroid itself, and then sort the folder by date. The most recent one is the one you want to work with. With saving and precautions out of the way, time for the first step. The .vroidcustomitem functions like a .zip or a .rar archive file type-- meaning that the contents inside can be accessed and easily edited with 7zip, WinRAR, or similar apps. In your archive application, you should see 3 items in the initial folder: a "thumbnails" folder, a "meta.json" and a "v1customitem" folder. Open the "v1customitem" folder. You'll find a second meta.json file. This is the ONLY file you should open in the folder (with Notepad or a similar application). At the very end of the file, there should be an entry that looks like "TransferableGroupType.N00.Level1.AllHair." You can replace the "AllHair" portion with any other category-specific file name (I recommend and demonstrate the "extra" hair type, aka TransferableGroupType.N00.Level1.HairHanege, but you can use HairAhoge or any other type). This simple text change breaks the system, and allows items that otherwise could not be used with an overall hair item to be used alongside it: ONLY if you equip all the other hair categories you want to use FIRST (it disappears if you click another item, as displayed in the video). Because the hair is glitched out, you cannot edit it without changing the new AllHair to HairHanege, and you cannot use multiple of these glitched items at the same time. However, all things considered? It's better than nothing. Let me know if this helps! If anyone finds a new/better solution, PLEASE let me know!! If I find anything else I'll put updates.

This saved my butt so much right now! If you want a simpler way of doing this for hair items you've created, just export it as a custom item, then follow the steps in the vid and change what you need to change then import them back in. I needed to change something to front bangs so all I had to do was change AllHair to HairFront. It should automatically add it to your customize_item folder when you import it so no need to go diving for it.

The item is showing up in Extras but it's still behaving like an overall hair and getting turned off when I picked a different overall hair. Any ideas?

This was really helpful though there's some differences, I panicked a little & got confused for a moment cause I couldn't find LocalLow. It might be have to do with the fact I'm on the Steam version so I just exported the item, after that everything went pretty well.(After I realized I need to stop dragging the meta.json to notepad instead of just interacting with it) It'd be nice for an official way to change stuff but at least this helps

One thing to note, I tried this but it doesn't seem to work if you're using another hair from the Overall Hair option, it will always disappear, no matter where you put the glitched hair/accessory into which sucks cause you can't use 2 glitched items at once :/

Another thing you can do is change the thumbnail for the asset - you literally just replace the Thumbnail .png in the original file with one that has an identical name and size and when you next load the item in Vroid Studio it has the custom thumbnail. I recommend caution with this though, as saving or overwriting the asset does appear to reset this.
