I’m tackling this job tomorrow with new plugs at 103k miles. Seems like a good idea. Can’t hurt. I grew up on the VW scare, so hpfp cam bucket for $25 is cheap and easy. If it’s worn? Great! If no detectable wear we know these engines are better than we thought. Needs new plugs so here we go.

Bone stock or tuned??

I've heard that when you increase the output in power it can cause premature wear to this part as the fueling is increased to cope with the extra demands from the engine. But also on the opposite side of the coin some state that extra maintenance with oil changes than normal will help reduce the wear . I have the parts ready for in the future incase I need to change if i suspect any issues.

Yeah... I talk about this a bit more in my next video. No facts per say but logical conclusions.... Some tuning companies run alot more fuel in there maps compared to others. Wonder if that's to do with premature wear or not 🤷‍♂️

I also purchased the fuel pump o ring for extra peace of mind as when the pump is removed it's best practice to replace the o ring seal as the pump is out already .

Shouldn't you change fuel pipes for news obce? Won't they leak when reused?

I didn’t have the orange tool you used to remove the harness, they are so excessive! What size torx socket do you need for the final step?

Bit late to the party on this one, I had my map done at DDG on the Dyno with a person v1, he was struggling all day with fuel duty cycles, as soon as he realised my 31k st180 hadn’t had a cam bucket done, he immediately replaced and gained a much smoother control of duty cycle to finish off the map To me that’s enough proof that the component is a wear part that should be replaced, it’s in expensive anyway

My ST2 is on 66k miles with no history of this being changed, recon it's worth doing?

Wait for a nicer day when the sun's out and have a go changing it. I wouldn't rush with it..

@@CarRambles where is the Data Video??
@CarRambles

There was basically zero change in fuel pressure etc. Theres alot of talk about changing these etc but it's a waste of time. Maybe change it 60k miles
@Altonivel93

If your car is stock i dont see it wearing out anytime under 100k miles if youre tuned especially bigger turbo or ethanol mixtures that i would check it after a while more fuel more wear
@AlphaEngineer2022
@AlphaEngineer2022 2 года назад
In the name of engineering there’s no way that will make a difference, I would of just stuck it back in and sent the new one back😋 thanks for the video though🤟

My thoughts exactly.... However gotta test and prove the myths
@Altonivel93
@Altonivel93 11 месяцев назад
Many cases where tuners were having issues with fuel trims and replacing this part fixed that issue I see it affecting tuned vehicles where more fuel is required or cars with high mileage

Where does this myth come from that you have to change the tap (Seriously, any source)? The Ecoboost engine is neigh on bullitt proof; that includes the direct injection system. But thanks for the vid
@CarRambles
@CarRambles 4 года назад
Mainly Facebook groups and certain tuners suggest that you do it :) I touch on this a little more in the data video :)
