Hi Henry, thank you for your video! On my home page, even when I don't specify any URL slug, I automatically receive a URL slug such as /home or /page. Is this normal? Should I leave it as it is?
Hey, I have been doing this redirects, but for some reason, they are being override by google, so when I click on the old URL on SGC it will go to the old one instead of the new if I refresh the page a few times then it will go to the new URL, but its happening a lot all over my pages.
There are various caches involved. You have your browser cache. Your ISP will have a DNS cache, as do all other DNS servers worldwide. Finally, Squarespace has caches to optimise page delivery. The upshot of the above is that it can take time for each of these caches to flush or update, meaning that you may see the previous routing for a while. You can clear your own browser cache and also turn airplane mode on and off (which usually clears local DNS caching). If you have a VPN try connecting to a different country and testing the redirects.
Hello - do you know how to create a url slug for a newsletter in a section on a home page so that when I give people the url for newsletter sign up it takes them to that section NOT just the homepage?
Thanks for reaching out - head to "Pages" on Google Search Console and you'll see a list of pages on your site - if you only recently changed the URL, you'll see it in the list.
@@h.purchase That worked. Thanks! Another question -- I accidentally changed my URL slug with the wrong keyword and hit Save. I corrected it within 5 mins and did the redirect to the correct one. Will that be ok? Or do I need to do 2 redirects for the new URL slug. Hope that makes sense. I'm very new to all of this. Just signed up for SEO Space a few days ago and learning a lot!
