Great video. I noticed you mentioned when running on 12V, you said that you turned your switch on the control panel to "Van Battery". I am now wondering if we should have done that with the Dometic fridge in our 54 Plate Swift Sundance 530LP. I also heard that before running it on 12V, it is worth putting some ice blocks in the fridge. That way, the temperature in the fridge will be lower, when you start driving. Because our MH is in storage, we cannot connect it to mains before we set off. Most of the standard size fridges in motorhomes are not very deep. We found we could not get much stuff into our fridge. So what we did was buy some extra ice blocks for our cool box. We then took the cool box away with us. Then when we got to the camp site, we put half the ice blocks into the freezer box in our fridge. With the other ice blocks in the cool box. Then we could store some beer etc in the cool box. Then each day we would swap the ice blocks around. That way, we always had some frozen ice blocks to put in the cool box. If we get a better motorhome in the future. We will definitely be looking for one with a bigger fridge lol.
Yes we take a cool box as I like to have the beer next to me in my chair so I don't need to move far to get a beer. Check your control Panel as to run my fridge on 12v I need to select it on my control panel also, plus only works when engine is running so only used when driving to site.
@@DKGoesWild I will have to check my handbook. I know that when on 12v, it only keeps it at the temperature that it is at when you turn it onto 12v, and does not get cooler. But I am not sure if we need to turn our control panel switch to Vehicle Battery first before switching the fridge to 12v.
Another belter. Would love to know your thoughts on the difference between how you fill your home fridge as opposed to your camper fridge. Lots of folks say don't over fill it but are there stuff that the camper one does better or worse?
Thanks glad you liked the video. the old 3 way fridges are not great, will keep milk and drinks cold but they is not much space so I also take a cool box for drinks and keep just bacon, milk and chocolate. The main selling point is they are silent but do take sometime to cool down.
Hi sorry missed the question. I don’t over fill as you need some circulation. We have a cool box as well for beer and soft drinks. The ice packs we swap between the freezer and the cool box so we always have one freezing in the fridge and have a frozen ones in the cool box. Several small ones are better than one big one. Fridge is for food but not more than 2 days worth of fresh. Beyond that we found the fridge was not cooling the food. Also make sure everything is cold before you put in fridge. Hope that helps?
You mean level? it does not need to be perfect but as flat as you can get it, the 3 way fridge in fact has a bit of variable of a few degrees so as long not on a hill.
@@DKGoesWild Installed one last year, slight hum when it’s quiet or at night but the fridge seems to get cooler, quicker, only really use in hot weather, haven’t done any tests with regards power usage but I’m happy with the fan
