Thank you for this video! My Rover “broke down “ and I got stranded. The gas gauge showed a quarter tank when the car was actually out of gas. We watched this video and realized no fuel was going thru the system when we pushed this valve. Just air was coming out. We went to the local gas station, got 5 gallons of gas, and the Rover started right up. This video saved us!
Not yet ! I tired changing the ignition switch and still not fixed - seems like i may need to take the dealer to get what looks like an immobiliser fault cleared.
Hello, my 2004 MK3 is doing the same thing. My fuel pump is working well, I have power to the fuel pump connectors (12v) all fuses are working. When I put gas into the fuel rail the truck will start but then shut off. How can I get the fuel pump to come on? Also do I need to re-sync anything to get it to work? Thank you
great video powerfulukltd ! i was wondering as this was an immobiliser issue was shortie still turning over (was the starter motor still energised?) mine is turning over but won't fire up and I'm not getting a noise from the pump when i follow your video in the same way to get the pump going manually either, so I'm convinced mine is the pump....(i do get 12v across the supply connector to the pump when i turn the ignition so i know the supply is there) thanks.
+Mr Action yes mine was the pump, i took the whole thing out and replaced the pump inside the casing rather than replace the whole unit, fired up straight away after replacing it all. Was a little fiddly but not too difficult.

Awesome job! I picked up a 04 HSE that has been sitting outside for years. Wouldn't start and I assumed it was bad fuel. I pulled the pump after doing everything in the video and ended up having a dead pump. I came back here to do the jump again and double check my wiring. Low and behold I heard it run on its own for the first time. Looks like I have the same issues with the ECU as you guys did. This video was a great help and I can't thank you enough for sharing this with the community.
have you got a link for the second video please, i have a problem with my fuel pump, i don't have 12v on the wire underseat wired pump...i connected a wire on the top of the relay but don't have 12v. if i connect a wire from the white blue at the top of the fuse box to the big red, i have a 12v on the plug pump under seat...i don't know what to do
Dear friend I questions for you on 2012 RengRover 5.0 spore charge car shat off now let's me give you some information this car come to me from other mechanic shop they change fuse box engine coolant temperature control the computer high pressure pump two of them fuel pump inside the gas tank crankshaft position sensor and the car keeps doing the same thing do you have any idea please let me know and you have a great day
well my car still wont start - diagnostics pointing to "immobiliser" but i will take a look at this connector and do a video for it. I think i will do a video for the connector you are referring to also ! ( thanks loads for posting up this advice ) Simon
guys.. where's the follow up.. I'm in the exact same boat. right now.. truck was driving ok. then just acted up. cleared up. went on to the store came out . started right up 3 blocks later acted up pulled over. truck died and want start back up.. no power to the punp. can't feel it or hear it working.. gonna hook it up to a battery in the am to see if the pump is working or not.. no pressure at the rail. I NEED THE REST OF THE STORY..LOL
This connector under the rear right seat is a common problem on all Range Rovers all the way to 2012. If your Range Rover starts having starting difficulties, inspect and clean this connector. 90% of the time, this will get her going again.
Yes i think this must be a top level function that only the dealers can do. We did try a few bits of kit on ours... snap on diagnostics and some others but to no avail.
Does any one know what a CAN line Error is on the Air Suspension ? L322 03 plate had the 2 front suspension replaced , I get Air susp inactive on my display and the Air Susp lights go off on the car :(
Hi 1) check that you turn the car on and turn the steering from left lock to right lock to calibrate the steering angle sensor. 2) failing that the next likely problem is the compressor - see our other video on changing this. For the price this is worth doing on a 10 year old car if it has the original compressor in it. If you are on a budget you can replace the piston ring but this does not always work.
Hi I have a 2003. Rr diesil. The pump is working. And lift pump is working. But it’s not pulling any. Diesil up relay working. Fuse is ok. Power. Everything ???
I called the RAC here in Australia for the same issue, he turned out to be an old school English man, he took out a rubber hammer and asked me to start the engine (crank) and hit the middle of fuel tank under the car (gently) BAM 💥 it started ok, recommended replacement of fuel pump but also suggested uou don’t let it run out of fuel often 🥲
I have an LR3, It wasn't starting, then 3 minutes later it started, took it it drive it around for 5 minutes, parked it and start it and no problem, should I be concerned? Do you think a part is going out?
so I poked the valve on the fuel deliver pipe and got a spit of fuel out of it, but I can't hear the fuel pump when I do the wire gadget on from the relay to hot wire in the back. what should I do next?
getplaning.......what connector under the right rear seat? I have a 2005 range rover 4.4 and it has no fuel pressure or injector/ignition coil pulse, I can bypass the system and get pressure but the ecu still wont command ground paths for the injectors/ignition coils, im leaning towards faulty pcm since the abs/brake, battery charging light, air suspension inactive
any joy with this as i am getting strange results. tried different relays and testing wiring to pump but i think it has some sort of switched earth to the bottom pin on the relay as i get 12v on the right pin, switched 12v on the left pin, the top pin connects to pump ok, the only odd one is the bottom pin which should be earth. i also have an immobiliser fault up on the engine diagnostic on my allcomms software with nothing connected i have 4.3 volts at the pump with ignition off?? any ideas?

Its been years since this video was posted, so im hoping you reply. How is the suspension drop correlated to the fuel pump not turning on? I converted from coils back to air with aftermarket management.
Quick question, is it TRUE? that this cars are the worst crap? how they have such name then? is it reliable to go 4x4 with them to a remote place without worrying that it will break? why so many bad reviews?
Hi - it is often the case that the more technically advanced someting is the more potential for failure there is. If you want something reliable then walk - people can go where no car can go ! the ultimate off road machine ! But the Range Rover is a totally awesome car - it looks great - it can go off road - it can cruise at speed etc etc Its the technology inside the car that makes this happen and what i love !
Thanks for your answer powerfulukltd i really love those cars you are right, they look awesome, they represent status, i was just wondering about all the bad reviews, i have never owned one, and somebody is offering me one in an exchange for my audi S4, so i havnt have any issues with my audi, it goes to the dealer "me" for service and thats it. i would love to swap it for the range as i love those trucks but all the reviews makes me wonder... so thats why i decided to go with an owner to see more direct comments. Hi there, thank you for your video. Very informative. I am having same issue. However when I tried to bypass the relay as you did. I could not here the pump running. Do you know if there is just one fuel pump on this model? And if I have no sound would that indicate that my pump is knackered? Thanks. Just want to be semi-sure before I splash out for a new pump.
