The power button lights up when I switch it on, and the head spins, but when I flip the heat switch on, it no longer lights up, and the head does not heat. Does that mean there is a problem with the switch and not the head?
You have to replace the switch. The power runs from the cord to the kill switch attached to the bowl clamps, then to the power switch, then to the heat switch, then to the heating head. Somewhere between the power switch to the heat switch, there is something wrong. Either the power switch is not sending it over to the heat switch, or the heat switch is broken. Make sure all of your connections are secure. If that doesn't work, you likely have to replace the heat switch. I had two machines, so I have not fixed mine yet, but I am pretty sure that is the problem.
