Super helpful, thank you. Any tips for furniture with a darker upholstery? I fell in love with a couch at Habitat for Humanity, terrified of bringing home unwanted pests though. I hate when I search for info online people just say "buy a new couch and then you won't have to worry." If I could afford a new couch, I wouldn't be looking at used ones 😭
Glad we could help you out with this information. While Bed bugs can blend in with darker colors, you will still be able to spot them with a good-quality flashlight. The eggs and cast skins (they molt to grow like a snake) will actually be more visible on the darker materials. You can also hire a pest control company to do a thorough inspection for you as well if you can justify an inspection fee. That way you will be sure to have a pest-free piece of furniture. Don't be afraid to ask if they have a pest service or trained staff that inspects their goods as they come into the building (many do a great job with that as well).
