As a side note the trans temp differs from the engine temp, you can let a car idle for 30 minutes and still have a cold transmission, of gears aren’t shifting fluid isn’t moving

When check my fluid i check it cold first then take a reading after its normal temp.

The engine is not going to warm the transmission to operating temp. You need to drive the car for 15 minutes, then check it.

Been always under the impression that it's not just turning on the engine until it reaches operating temperature, but that you actually have to drive the car. So that the transmission oil heats up and expands. Then read the level while it's hot.

Doesn't need to be at operating temperature just enough to warm up the oil. A little just like right before a oil change to make the oil thinner so it will flow out better.

Been watching alot of your videos and I subscribed. Also will be replacing Transmission fluid again and taking a look at the 3rd gear pressure switch and torque converter Solenoid. I have the Factory helms manual. So that helps as well.

Informative. But I can’t seem to get a proper answer. Are you suppose to check the fluid while the engine is hot and on idle? Or just have the engine hot, and check while it is off? I keep getting conflicting answers and I want to be sure I’m properly filling my transmission.

These dipsticks are a pain to read correctly. Why they couldn’t use a notched surface like the oil dipstick is beyond me.

took the car to get an oil change and they said I got a major leak lol ( I change the shit myself every 30k miles ), so I check the level and its literally above the two holes hahaha

Don't be afraid to change it! I did my first change after buying it with 174K miles at around 200k and have had nothing but positive results and peace of mind. Do you have a Type-S or standard TL?

Could be your rack and pinion, if you are topped off with power steering fluid and your power steering pump is working. I have been having like a creaking noise when turning my steering wheel at idle and replaced all of my front suspension thinking it could have been ball joints. Only think left is the rack and pinion or coilovers 🙃

@@shoukapola86 put air in your tires. Trust me you will notice the difference. My steering was tight as hell esp when trying to park into spaces. Read on a forum somewhere about checking air in tires so I filled my air up and boom super easy to park now LOL! Not sure why but it was my issue

Honda atf levels can be checked when hot or cold - with the engine OFF NOT ON. This is only the case with HONDA/ACURA vehicles - always refer to your service/instruction manual.

The dash is not repairable. The only 2 solutions are buy an uncracked dash from a TL being parted out or buy a new dash from an Acura dealer. They are extremely expensive from a dealer, $1,000+

I know this post is old, but if the crack is small you can stop it before it gets worse by heating up either a thin nail or a thicker sewing needle and cauterize each end of the crack. The nail or needle must be hot enough to melt the dash, you stick it into the ends of the crack (like a hot knife in butter) and it seems to create a little pressure relief. I did it on my TL that had about a 4 inch crack a few years ago and it has not grown since.

Reason why that happens is cuz while it’s on the fluid is moving/splashing around inside the gear case.

@@XxBLOODSTRIKERxX41 tell me what you think about this, my transmission on my TL started messing up and I had to buy a new car, it will shift up through every gear but if it downshifts or I hit the brakes it slips and acts like it's in neutral, I'll pull over, turn it off, crank it back up and it's fine until I hit the brakes or downshift, I've never had a transmission do this,it seems like it would be something electronical, like a solenoid or something doesnt it

2004 - 2006 headlamps are the same. 2007 - 2008 headlamps are different of it's a Type-S.
