How to choose a good driving instructor or driving school. 

I did it with an AA Driving instructor as you refer to a "Big driving school" and loved every lesson with him! My test felt like another lesson and made me feel so calm and relaxed. He was amazing!!

Being honest I’ve been duped twice with bad instructors, they seem good at first so you book a slot of lessons, you can’t review them as there is no option to. I’ve failed two test plus picked up bad habits from these instructors. I’m now with a instructor from Red, he goes through everything with me, discusses what we’re going to work on. Plus is honest with me. I’ve wasted a lot of money, when your a starter you’ve never drove before your going to believe and do everything a instructor tells you to do it, then when you drive with someone else you realise how wrong they were. It’s hard picking a instructor that will get you test ready. I do feel the instructors I had only cared about the money, not getting me through test ready. What’s done is done, I do feel I’ve got a good one now, he takes me to different areas, his also learning me emergency stops & hill starts, which my other instructors didn’t bother with.

Was with a bad driving instructor that I realised was terrible from the first lesson alone. Going through RU-vid videos of examples of good driving instructors teaching their pupils and their teaching methods overall gave me an idea of what the difference between a good and a bad instructor is. Getting angry at me and being patronising for little things, telling me that adding gas before lifting the clutch was bad and tried to teach me out of it. Taking complete control of the wheel when I was perfectly capable of doing it myself, telling me off for lifting the clutch up before turns. Getting frustrated at me for coming to complete stops. Number 1 Rule: No good instructor would ever shout at you. If they can't be professional then don't waste your time! I would definitely recommend that you watch a couple of RU-vid videos to gain that knowledge of the right teaching methods and being able to tell if a instructor is good or bad.

I went with a big company at first and felt intimidated by the instructor when I couldn’t handle the gears properly and the clutch. Then my family suggested automatic. Took a while to find an instructor. Someone local from a local automatic company. I found them better and my instructor is easy to get along with. That is when we’re not stopping at his house lol. This week he took me to fill up the car lol.😂
