Love that 80/10/10 rule. Good for houses AND spouses. Wise words Emily.

Harry Moore AAaahh! I haven’t played with the RHYME before, Harry! Light bulb moment. I’ll need to pull that out for my comedy routine for clients. 😆

There is no such thing as the perfect house! Thanks for all your input, and don't ever go house hunting without a pre-approval!

Great video! I live in Kansas, and downsized after my husband died two years ago. I bought a new townhouse so I could be on one floor, and my 30-year-old son lives in the finished basement. It's a great place to age in, but I moved to a small town in the process. I'm from an affluent suburb which is now 30 minutes away. I was SO focused on the inside, and maintenance-free outside, that I disregarded how isolated I would feel here! I have to get on the interstate to do anything I want. I buy mostly organic food and have to leave town just for groceries. Also, the lack of natural light is very depressing. I spend most of the time in my sunny sitting room and ignore the rest of the space. So, yeah, I agree with your assessment!

Aawww. I’m sorry your new home is not all the you hoped it would be. If you’ve lived there a few years and still don’t feel connected to the place, the good news is that hopefully soon you will have amassed enough equity to move without taking a loss. Here in my market, I find it takes most people 3-4 years to “earn enough equity” to be able to sell and break even or make a small profit. Maybe it’s the same where you live? It might be worth investigating with a trusted real estate agent. Let me know if you’d like a suggestion of someone to talk with. I may know a few in your area. Feeling connected, having easy access to your “everyday places,” and maintaining a strong social circle is important to your quality of life! ❤️

Tip #1 is the most important tip! Get pre-approved before you even begin looking at houses.
