Thanks for sharing. I got to go with my dad to your grandfathers home/ shop and he bought one of his guitars. He made a really good instrument. You could tell he put a lot of effort and pride into his work. Good memories. Best to you and your grandfather! Aaron
"Tune it up, put it in it's case, take it out and play". Great quote, bought my Justice Pro-Lite 3x5 about a year ago, new to PSG but now playing out once a week. My Justice stays in tune and sounds great. I want to thank Aaron (Steel Picking) for his wonderful video's, it's helped me to get started, and Fred Justice who builds a great instrument and his customer service is AAA.
Aaron, that's a nice guitar and you make it sound so good. Never been close to a pedalmaster. Totally impressed with yours. I have a Mullen D10 8x4, MSA D10 8x2, Stage one S10 3x4, and BMI S10 3x4
Larry, thanks for sharing. The pedalmaster is a really good guitar. I think that they are no longer making guitars. I was fortunate to borrow this one till I get my Justice back from Fred. You own some really impressive rigs. Keep at it and thanks. Keep picking! Aaron
The only guitar I ever owned is a Sho-Bud Pro 1 . I lucked out in that it is an early desirable model ...1972 I think. It has 3 pedals 4 knee levers. I don't think I'd ever sell it. If Lloyd Green gets by with his number of changes , l certainly can with mine ,and my limited ability. I still would like to get a doubleneck one day . Ideally I like to rent one for a few months to see how I'd do.
Jim, sounds like you have a great guitar. Some of the older Sho- Buds have such beautiful birds eye maple on them. A lot of times the undercarriage would really show the grain of the wood well. If you can, shot a picture of your guitar. I would like to see it. Keep picking! Aaron
I have a GFI ultra it's a double neck and it plays me. My guitar is gold ion like Ralph Mooney had. Trust me it doesn't matter what guitar I have, the thing sounds terrible with me behind it lol
My dad said if you can not play good play good and loud lol. I can not tell you how much grief I got from my brothers when I was learning. I was the proverbial long tailed cat in the rocking chair factory. Have fun and keep at it. Keep picking! Aaron
I will check into how I might be able to do that. I am not a universal player. My dad started playing the Anderson and Newman tuning and loved them. I think he got tired of lugging a double neck around. I must confess I do not know much about the tuning. I have enough trouble trying to learn what I have. lol Keep picking! Aaron
Love your tone, but could you give an opinion on suggested amplifiers. Is the amp more a major factor in tone versus the guitar. Do you need an amp with particular specs to get that sustain etc. Could you explain your set-up. Thanks
John, thanks. I am using a Roland Blues Cube with the 12" speaker that came with it. I also use a steel guitar black box by Sarno. I find it gives any amp a warmer more tube like sound. I also have a Telonics F.P. 100 D volume pedal. Tone is the thing all players work on. It has to do with equipment, pickups, bar and right hand placement. You also get into tube verses none tube amps. I feel most guitar out there have good pickups so I would try checking out amps more. I also have a Peavy backstage that sound good with my effects and guitar. I would also check out the discussion board on the steel guitar forum. Hope this helps! Aaron
I have a D10 MSA Classic and a D10 Fessenden. Both outstanding guitars, just the MSA is extremely heavy. In the case, it's probably 100 pounds. I would love to find a used GFI D10....Ultra or Expo to take out and play because of the weight, but I haven't been able to find one
Aaron you gave me your email.before but I csnt find it so I'll ask a question here... On your justice, do you raise 7 a whole tone? I ask because I'm about to put the 7 string raise back on with the 1&2 raise and I'm not sure what position in the bell crank/changer to use. Im also going to put the 6 string lower on my vertical (so I dont loose the split I use so often) Thanks in advance
Yes, I do have that raise. Fred has the 7 raise on the 3rd hole down from the closes to the body. If you have the guitar upside down it would be left set of holes 3rd up from body or bottom. Hope this helps. Thanks. Aaron
Ray, I am using the Emmons set up sort of. You can go to our equipment video for the full run down. I have talked to players in both camps and to me it comes down to what feel natural. The guitar I borrowed had the Es to Eb on the opposite leg from what I have on my Justice. After about a week I got pretty used to it and did not have to think about it to much. The only problem now is when I get my Justice back I will have to relearn. lol Thanks! Aaron
For the E9th tuning just think guitar amps. Most players are using this tuning and a guitar amps will sound just fine. Hope this helps. Keep Picking! Aaron
@@SteelPicking Are you saying that a guitar amp works only if you're using the E9th. tuning set up...? Check me out at: www.bandmix.com/thomas-de-lello/
