See my blog at sharpologist.com Choosing a shaving brush can be a mystery to some people because of all the options available. Here are some guidelines.
@@amirhoseinsari5417 Yeah exactly 💯 best opt for synthetic brushes and if they want best opt for Silvertip brushes. As, to why silvertip? It is high premium grade synthetic brushes and for those who are looking for that high quality synthetic brushes. Also, as well as they don't fall out
Very informative. One reason I keep going back to Omega boar brushes is the soft scrubby feel. You get more lather maybe from my silver tips, but I just like the exfoliation of the quality boar brushes. We have such great variety to choose from. Took me many purchased to really settle with the fact that it's more about preference than material.
I've now watched far too many of your videos for one day. They're all excellent. Thank you. I just purchased my first DE safety razor--the Merkur 38C HD, along with a sample pack of blades and some Proraso. Can't wait to actually get a real shave. Keep up the good work.
I remember watching this video 3 1/2 years ago before I had any brushes... now look at be. Practically a traditional wet shaving expert and vast knowledge about brushes, razors, Vintage, Vintage Gillette’s, Date Codes, different knots, you name it! It all started here along with GeoFatboy, KenSurfs, KevyShaves, And PaulHFilms videos!!! 💈😁👍🏻💈 ~Mike 🌹
another great video mantic thanks for getting me started on wet shaving, since watching your videos ive learned the right way to shave i no longer have a neck full of ingrowns and i cant wait for my next shave looking forward to next video until then thanks for everything.
I have enjoyed your videos, and just gave myself an early Christmas present, a Van Der Hagen shave set, including bore brush, stand and shave soap puck and bowl. I plan to try them with my new Merkur classic 1906 safety razor. I started with safety razors after viewing the Micro touch one commercial and buying one at Walgreens. The shave was far closer then my good news disposables that I grew up on. I plan to view more of your videos for tips on shaving as I want the best possible experience.
I love the vintage old-timey video clips you add to your videos. great video as always. it's been a 3 years since i first discovered your videos and it's high time to get a new badger brush. the one i have is still my first badger, and it's on the small size.
I purchased an Edwin Jagger synthetic silvertip brush and have thus far not been disappointed. I read recently that the demand for badger is now close to or surpassed the supply & some of the more reputable companies are making an effort to produce higher quality synthetics. EJ is a great brush, but I have also read many great reviews for Mulhe synthetics too.
Thanks for the video.Ur helping wives like me. God! I never thought it will get so tricky to arrange a shaving bouquet for my husband. Please do review on horse hair though, cos its easy to get one in my country.
I have this brush its fairly new. I have the problem of bristles falling out when I lather up my shaving cream. Will this problem stop after I use it more? It wasnt that cheap the brand is Grutti
Is there any specific way I should save so my beard gets bigger faster?I wanna do more and more complex designs. Also can you show any beard styles? Thanks
I think it's fantastic that he points out that boar and badgers are killed to make these brushes, I know any vegan wet shaving would realize this but maybe a few will be saved now that people realize there is an alternative.
Jonathan Herman when hair or skin is used it's as a way to make money off unused parts . for example you can outlaw leather and it wouldn't stop any slaughter house. it would just mean more waste.
I asked this on your Facebook, but just in case you dont check that, what do think about using this cream with a badger brush? Its all natural and I've been using it for a while now but it needs a brush to lather it. Hi just watched your vid on the brushes. Was wondering if you thought this shaving cream I have been using for a few months now is safe for badger hair brushes.
Hello Mantic, Thank you for your great videos. I have 2 questions for you. 1) Have you ever tried the HJM synthetic "BLACK FIBRE" brush? 2) Have you ever tried the Frank Shaving Badger brushes? Thank you again!
Very good. You're the reason I started shaving like a man. :0) I can't seem to find your video on shaving lathers/creams do you still have one? Over the last year I've really had a hard time finding a cream I'd like to stick with. Not that I mind changing them up once in a while but I'd like find a single cream that is my standard. Thanks for y our videos.
my 29mm Simpson T3 Trafalgar is the best brush on the market today it's like buying a $200 badger hair brush, no cleaning the brush, no need for a brush stand, fast drying time, well not fall apart like a badger hair can, cheap to buy, i have owned it for 5 years with know problems wheelchair Larry
Hey, I just wanted to know if you could list some creams that nwould NOT damage a badger brush. I haven't gotten my brush quite yet, but wanted to knownif Barbersol brand cream is safe. Thank you
Sam Van Oss Hey, I know this is an old post, but typically any cream like a Barbasol or a gel will damage the hair. Inexpensive items to try would be something like Williams or vanderhaagen shave soap which you can find almost anywhere, or, if you have a bath and body works near you check out the C.O. Bigelow shaving cream. It comes in a green tube and is actually made by Proraso! It's great stuff and a good size tube will only set you back about 10 bucks! Best shaves to you!
How do the horse hair brushes perform compared to the badger and boar hair ones? And what was the deal with the anthrax scare? I've heard synthetic brushes have really improved in recent years. And I suppose, while I'm not thrilled by the idea that a badger has to die so I can have a decent shaving brush, if the Chinese are killing them anyway, at least they're being put to good use. Are they really that bad of a pest species there? Or do they just want the money?
All I'm using are the brushes that came in my Van der Hagen sets because it's what I can afford. Might be boar, might be synthetic. Didn't see anything on the label. What I think I'm gonna do eventually is find badger knots and turn my own handles out of wood. That and restore a few flea market finds.
I bought an Indian made horse hair brush. How about a review of horse hair. I used it for the 1st time today. It is more aromatic than my best badger hair.
Jim Chavez yes, horse hair brushes can be quite smelly at first! Try giving it a good lathering with pet shampoo and rinsing very thoroughly. The smell will go away with use. I have a couple Vie Long horse hair shave brushes and they work pretty well, somewhere between boar and badger.
***** I am trying Tea Tree shampoo on it (it always worked for my horse). Can you do a review of some horse hair brushes you have encountered. I paid under $5.00 for mine. I had low expectations for its functionality. It lathered fine though.
Okay, thanks for the advice :) I hear lots of good things about Shavemac; that they are the cream of the crop when it comes to shave brushes. I've been using a Vulfix Super Badger for about a year now, and want to see how good a silvertip is :) Since Omega is middle of the road, I'm thinking I'll splurge on a Shavemac instead.
Thanks for mentioning the cruelty involved in harvesting boar and badger hair. I bought an Omega Syntex for that reason. Badgers are cool so how's about we let them keep their fur on their bodies.
aww gimme a break you don't need to pull it out like that . its not like we need the absolute root of the hair to make a knot and we never come in contact with it. you can trim the hair and never cause the slightest injury or pain.
