Very informative. Thank you! I just read on the u of G that the single rooms will be a double. Due to housing / resident issues. Hope you are on your way to achieve your goals!

Will all the single rooms be made double? Or just some? Sucks cuz I applied for only single rooms and really value my privacy.

Wow very useful and helpful !! thank you. We wish to move University of Guelph from Calgary this Fall, 2022.My wife got a PhD offer though formal offer letter not yet received. We have 1 kids 3 years old. Family housing is our preference. It would be great if we finds some information from you. Thank you

Congratulations!! very exciting, and that is a hugeee move cross country! I would just check out the u of g housing website for more info and if you have any questions about applying to live in family housing, there should be an email somewhere on the webpage. they are usually pretty quick to respond. not quite sure how residence application works for PhD students, but good luck!!

@@muhammadmahmudulhasanselim3637 personally i dont have any kids so I havevent explored the nearby childcare options, but one of my managers in residence life staff uses the on campus Guelph Childcare and Learning Center for his kiddos. It is on east side of campus, so a walk from west res, but honestly pretty close by in the grand scheme of things. They are run by a coordinator and then students in the early childhood education program at the university i think. But I would just search up childcare Guelph and start reading reviews and calling around to get more info as your move day gets closer.

Hey, keep making more videos about the university! Can you give a gym and track tour? Also which residence is near the gym and the cafeteria at the same time?
@lynn.2019
@lynn.2019 2 года назад
closest to the gym is east, anything in east, but there is no caf in that direction. I live in Maritime so I am in the closest building in south to the gym and I don't have to go outside to get to mountain caf or prairie caf. I probably wouldn't pick north residences if you want to be going to the gym a lot, but its still a managable walk and north has its own cafs. The central campus res buildings like johnston are pretty close to everything just on the merit that they are right in the middle of campus. I will try and give a gym tour, but I don't have a gym membership this year so I can't access every part of the gym and it is lowkey weird to film in the gyms, but you can get a tour and general idea of the services on the gryphons athletics website. Hope that helps
@onlytruth6494
@onlytruth6494 2 года назад
@@lynn.2019 Oh, so the gyms aren't free for the students? Only for the athletes huh? What bout the indoor and outdoor track? They have any membership?
@lynn.2019
@lynn.2019 2 года назад
@@onlytruth6494 There are specific things that require membership. I am pretty sure the walking track is always free. I go iceskating all the time and that is free as well as the swiming pools, using the regular gyms for like basketball courts, and intermural sports. So if you are super into playing basketball, you would want to join the intermural league. The gym membership is at a reduced rate for students, its only $50 per semeater which is wayyyyy better than any other local gym rate. I had the gym memberahip my first year and loved it, I went to yoga and dance classes a lot, I used the weight room like three times a week, but since I started skating I haven't found time to do my old routines. There is also a rock wall, but I am not sure if that is included in the general gym pass or if that is an extra fee because there are specofic instructors for safety.

Overall, which residence is best for 2-3 people per room?? And what do you recommend, how many people should live in 1 room ???
@lynn.2019
@lynn.2019 9 месяцев назад
I like the east village townhouses or glengary or dundas because you get your own room but heavily share communal living space. I would always recommend your own room because transition to university is hard sometimes and you just need your own space to be able to get a break sometimes. Unless you have been sharing a room with a sibling or room mate already, I would recommend those communal type living arrangements where you each have a door to close at night

@lynn.2019
@lynn.2019 2 года назад
if you are coming in with a group of friends already, get a house in east village or a flat in glengary together. if you are hoping to make new friends to go out with: mountain, prairie, or maritime. Parties on campus are not allowed, though they still happen, but you probably wont be attending many parties actually within mountain prairie or maritime. So I say those are the easiest res buildings to make friends, in my opinion, and they are close to the bus loop to get to off campus parties fastest, which is where most of the fun is. But quite honestly, there are a lot of things going on off campus constantly, so as long as you make "the right kind of friends" in classes or clubs, you'll have somewhere to go out. (pls also keep studying lol if you are a business student, i can tell you from experience you will have plenty of time for both school and fun lol can't speak for other majors tho)

I lived in south my first year, very similar situation new to ontario, and my best advice would be to talk to your RA, get involved in clubs, and try to get to know the people who sit around you in class. As for parties, go to O Week events and dont be afraid to get a little daring, its odd to go out with people you just met a couple hours ago, but thats what uni is in the first couple weeks. pretty soon you will find your crowd, dont worry :)

you can find all that infornation updated for each year on the uofg housing website, so any video i make would basically immediately be out of date and the numbers i say wouldnt matter. So I would just suggest you look that up on the website, the university is pretty transparent about housing and meal plan pricing

Please what residence would be okay for a family of 3, applicant, spouse and a kid. Also, how much is the total annual rent amount for such residence. Finally, in comparison with an off campus apartment, please, which is better in your view and why?

unfortunately i don't have the answers to these questions. This year has brought some extreme changes to the residence department at Guelph and the market has made rent proces for off campus living virtually impossible to esrimate based on my knowlege from last year. Additionally I have never lived off campus, so I don't have pros and cons for off vs on campus and especially with a family. I would reccomend contacting student housing services with these questions via email

At Guelph they don't place you based on major unless you request to be in an Academic Learning Cluster. I think last year the com sci cluster was in Mountain, but if you aren't in the cluster you can literally live anywhere on campus!
